Elizabeth Hasselbeck Uses Handbags to Prove God's Existence (Seriously)

Cruel, cruel readers. Everyone is sending me links to this recent episode of The View, in which four women babble inanely about something or other. In this case, it's evolution. Do you people like to see me suffer? This was horrible.

OK, Whoopi Goldberg is wishy-washy, rather than stupid: she argues for some vague kind of deistic intervention at the big bang, then evolution is the mechanism for creating life. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, though … allow me to paraphrase. 'Really cool handbags and shoes have, like, designers, so really cool people must have a designer, too, even greater than Gucci and Prada.'

Oh, wait…that's not new. That's the same old argument the ID creationists have made all along.

Here. The rest of you can suffer and despair of humanity now, too.

Digg!

It makes me sick, feminism notwithstanding.

How can anyone stand having this group of babbling idiots in their living room?

How would the TeeVee industry make money if it didn't compete for the stupidest viewers?

We're all about the Magical Giddy Happy-Face Shite. It gleefully sells wars, economic collapse, environmental disaster, corruption, ignorance and woo.

Too weird. Makes me want to throw my shoes at her.

My handbag evolution experiment FAILED - who's the idiot?

I tried tossing a bunch of really cool Gucci handbags in a closet for a few years, hoping they'd mate and evolve into a handbag that came with money in it. Nothing happened except some problems with moths. This seems to disprove evolution - the bags DID NOT EVOLVE!

Maybe I should e-mail this to Elizabeth?

(BTW, I'd never leave my Gucci bags in the same closet as Pradas, though, y'know, miscegenation and all.)

How Long Did You Make It?

Well... I did the best I could! Honest!

I made it a total of 2 minutes and 12 seconds... That was as long as my mind could withstand my inner "moron-o-meter", blaring away in my head!

And Whoopie is "wishywashy"? Come on... She may have had something going on upstairs before going on the View, but it's obvious that her mind has devolved down with the other
"pitter-patterers" on that show...

Hmmm... I wonder how that clip ended? Do you think all of their heads exploded? Hmmm?
Ya Think?

If they did, I could plug my inner ears long enough to see that!

If you are a beleiver in Evolution, there always reamins the question 'What was the prime Mover?"
If you are religious the fossil record must be explained. Was Adam and Eve, "Lucy", Or Homo erectus, neanderthal,.. which One?
If you are an evolutionist doesn't then mean their will be an evolutionary change again? will it be a slow process or one hastened by circumstances.Isn't there a 'Design' to evolution in and of it self?
If you are religious, then the end will be as God designed, so our level of intellegence and physical abilities 'designs' which we are meant to utilize? Are we not fulfilling our duty as the only species on the planet with these 'gifts' to further our species and the planet we are in charge of?
In reality these Debates are irrelevant and counter productive.
Regardless of how we got here, or how or when the end will come, we have many pressing issues which would be far better served if we didn't waste our time on such 'Unknowables'.
Tell me any tangible difference which would occur if Adam & Eve was proven by science?would Wars Stop, Would Famine & disease suddenly be cured? Would the planet miraculously repair itself? No. Just as much as if the Church came out and admitted the Big Bang was feasible.
Both are just theories which if proven amount to nothing but a 'I told you so' moment. Such a 'revelation' would have no real value and certianly solve nothing of the issues we face NOW!

one of the most popular shows on TeeVee. If that is not a terrifying notion, then neither should be that of a police state, global warming, corporate capitalism gone rabid, etc., because if a large segment of the population considers this crap illuminating (and they evidently do) it is painfully obvious our nation is a long way away from being anywhere near ready for democracy.

Thanks for the reminder to never watch these fundies unless I need a good laugh. Even the dumbest kid will ask "who made god", They should have more kids on their show, but then they would really look stupid!

Now I understand why we are where we are today. The lobotomy box has been bombarding the brains of viewers with such utter meaningless crap for so long..... I could not even get through the clip. Then they quoted BUSH? The same BUSH that got shoe'd ? (However, that lame duck sure can duck.) When was his word worth quoting?
And what is it with msm that they have to keep up a steady stream of BS nonsense. I am so pleased that I do not watch TV and have not for years. Except once in a while I will click on a clip on the net , just as a reminder that I am not missing anything cerebral from the likes of television producers. And each time, I can confirm that I've not missed anything that American TV puts out.And how does reading a bible make one a goooooood christian? Obviously, it does not. Just makes people think they're all holier than thou. People actually watch this stuff and think it's important as the world spins into chaos. People actually tune into this stuff daily? We are in financial ruin, wars, employment, health care, housing, education, deficit multiple times over, and the tv personalities keep on giving out idiot talk shows about god and gucci ?. My how far we've fallen for the producers scam of detraction's from what is real. If I had a tv on when that program aired, I would have thrown my R and L shoe at the television set and then unplugged it and tossed it to the curb.Sidewalk Alert !! I put some sausages in a pan on the stove and waited twenty years. They failed to evolve into a cow. Therefore, Darwin was just plain wrong !! and my kitchen smells like George Bush stopped by !! He alone is proof against evolution.

Demonstrations as this suggest to me that the rational parts of some people's brains have been commandeered to serve the purposes of the R3 reptilian parts. I suppose religious beliefs would be exhibit A for that case.

"Whatever God makes me feel least inconsequential and unhappy - that's the God I know in my heart must exist."

Oh, man, what a bunch of hooey.

Not even macabre fascination could compel me to view the entire horrible video. But I saw enough to make me cringe.

I think the utter vacuity portrayed by these women is a far greater threat to feminist goals than pornography, alternate sexualities, scuzzy advertising, human trafficking, or any of the other hot-button issues we usually see in the pages of Alternet.

I'd better defend that thought.

Pornography: don't consume it if you don't like it. Don't let it influence your own choices, unless you want it to. (And quit peering over the shoulder of your neighbor to see what she likes. It's none of your business.)

Alternate sexualities: if it doesn't appeal, don't do it. (What someone else does by consent is also none of your business.)

Scuzzy advertising: don't like it? Don't buy it.

Human trafficking: if you can find any, arrest the perps. (Good luck finding any; but you're most welcome to look.)

Most of the other feminist hot-button issues can be handled similarly, without slamming shut the door on diversity or freedom of speech.

But "The View" is a tutorial for how women should think and converse. That seems terribly insidious to me. Because believe me, when women think and converse like the women in this clip, it's utterly impossible to take them seriously.

I just can't bring myself to go so far as to advocate government intervention in a broadcast network's programming to rid our society of this insidious influence. But if feminists were to aim their barbs at the network responsible for airing this crud, I'd applaud them.
