Fox News Hires Disgraced Reporter Judith Miller

Posted by Amanda Terkel, Think Progress at 3:06 PM on October 20, 2008.

Miller, who has been a willing participant in the Bush administration’s quest to peddle lies to the American public, will fit right in.

Today, the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz reveals that Fox News has hired former New York Times reporter Judith Miller, who will be an on-air analyst and write stories for Fox's website:

"She has a very impressive résumé," says Senior Vice President John Moody. "We've all had stories that didn't come out exactly as we had hoped. It's certainly something she's going to be associated with for all time, and there's not much anyone can do about that, but we want to make use of the tremendous expertise she brings on a lot of other issues. ... She has explained herself and she has nothing to apologize for."

Miller, however, had more problems than her stories not turning out "exactly" as she had "hoped." Miller has been a willing participant in the Bush administration's quest to peddle lies to the American public. She was a key player in pushing false intelligence that led the public into the Iraq war, and was central to the Valerie Plame leak scandal.

On Sept. 7, 2002, she and fellow New York Times reporter Michael Gordon reported that Iraq had "stepped up its quest for nuclear weapons and has embarked on a worldwide hunt for materials to make an atomic bomb." As proof, she cited unnamed "American intelligence experts" and unnamed "Bush administration officials." Subsequently, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, and Donald Rumsfeld all pointed to Miller's story as justification for war. On April 22, 2003, she told PBS's Newshour that WMD had already been found in Iraq: "Well, I think they found something more than a 'smoking gun.'"

In 2005, Miller went to jail for refusing to testify in the Valerie Plame scandal and reveal her conversations with Scooter Libby. Miller was often criticized for becoming too close with her Bush administration sources. While she was in jail, for example, Libby wrote to her about how much he admired her and urged her to "Come back to work -- and life."

may she wash the feet of all those living and dying there. Then she can be of real service where she belongs, at a VA hospital.

See John Moody/Fox for exactly what they are, an accomplice to the crimes.

Mukasey should have brought Miller and her arrogant, deceitful editwhores to trial, but you see our 'Attorney General' is a crime lord too.

Judith Miller is rightly disgraced for peddling Bush WMD lies on the pages of NYT.

But fruadster Powell's endoresement of Obama is a source of pride for psuedo liberals?

Liberals are as fucked up as their conservative counterparts.

Wasn't it inevitable? With her credibility in shreds, where else would she go? Plus, it will give her a launching pad to start the inevitable book tour...

...what a surprise.

Another dittohead in the stable.

Requirement for work at Faux News: Check brain at door, follow daily Murdock talking points, do everything you can to destroy anything liberal or progressive.

Why do you folks continue to be shocked at what this gang of hypocrites do and say? It is participation in fascism at its best.

The only sad thing is that the Democraps in sheep clothing do not get the message that this is a war for everything I used to think Amerikkka stood for, and they continue to play nice.

It's only fitting that she ends up at Faux Noose... the home of washed up pseudo-journalists. She should be very happy there.

Pretty telling that, up until now, she's been the radioactive embarrassment that she so deserved to be. No newspaper would hire her. So Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch gave her a home. It's a requirement to lie and spin in order to work for them. "Truth" is not a requirement, nor is "Reporting." Seems like a perfect fit!

She should be happy there with her new family!

Sarah Palin.

These harpies belong together as boosters of failed plans.

Palin will warm a seat on air until she can walk into a safe Congressional seat, then just a wait until 2012 and her bid for the Big Job.

A Nation With No Shame

A nation with no shame is not different than a whorehouse which peddles the illusion of lovemaking in exchange for money. Judith Miller was nothing more than a star-struck highly compensated propagandist along with her ideological partner in crime Michael Gordon whose lies and false information played a significant role in the U.S. invading a sovereign country for none of the stated reasons. Thousands upon thousands of human beings are dead and maimed as a result of that invasion.

She has at last found a home. Fox News doesn't do journalism, which should be right down her alley.

CABLE NEWS SHOWS HAVE NON-ETHNIC MONOPOLY

of course she'll fit right in, and there should be no harm done; or no angry posts. She's white, like all the other anchors and anchoresses, isn't she?

The klan of cable new-ooze shows are holding on to their last strand of white supremacy and separate but equal. As long as the world sees the same glitch of non-Black informers at every news issue, the world will still feel positionally polarized.

Next they'll hire Susan Ferrechio. That is, if they haven't already?
