"I feel like there's some misinformation going on here," Ellen said after playing clips of the speech, "and--I think I need to call her."
The automated voice mail system indicated that Kern's inbox was full.
"I bet!" Ellen responds out loud, before opting instead to leave a message for the legislator via television broadcast.
"Hi! It's Ellen DeGeneres," she opens. "The gay one."

Also, while on Kern's nonsense, folks have been talking about this Queerty post: Sally Kern Scrubs Gay Son? I have no idea whether her son is gay - absent him coming forward and saying something, there's no way to know. If that's the case, no wonder this fundnut bigot is going buckwild with the bigotry. You go Ellen and thank you Alternet for putting this video on your site. Rep.Kern is seriously delusional. I wonder if she ever really talked to a gay or lesbian. Interject a racial epithet for gay and these kinds of comments would have caused her to be censured by the House. However since she seems to be entitled to her opinion I guess that would have been ok too. All in the name of Christianity to boot. My, my WWJD.

What an indictment of all you gays out there!!

Worse than terrorists!! Thats good to know.

I wasn't even aware that there was a gay group distributing manuals on how to blow up heterosexuals, or condemning straight people to death for being straight.

And now they are teaching 2 year olds that a homosexual lifestyle is ok?

I think that they've made a pretty good case for gay adoptions if "them homosexuals can teach a 2 year old about the complexities of adult interpersonal relationships. Lets face it, most straight couples are still working on "lets keep the 2 year olds from shitting their diapers and get them onto the toilet" at that point.

I certainly hope that this woman responds to Ellen's challenge, and appears on her show. I'd love watching Ellen skewer her. (I personally think that Ellen is the ONLY intelligent, well-spoken person to ever have a crappy talk show)

grandaughter that it's not O.K. to put one group of people down because their "lifestyle" may be different from the "main stream". I just hope that when she grows up we wont still be having this conversation. I thought we were past this kind of bigotry.

This wing-nut from Oklahoma claims that all societies that have "embraced homosexuality" have met with destruction.

I have a pretty good grasp of history and I can't name one society that ever collapsed as a result of "embracing homosexuality."

Makes no sense to me. Sounds like Bible-thumpin' wing-nut propaganda, if you ask me.

I like this new Ellen. She didn't used to address gay issues on her show (though her stand up has always been awesome). I'm glad she's using her notoriety to finally hit back, but with comedy.

I know it's too much to ask, but I'd love to see someone ask people like this OK dope this:

Do you think illegal aliens are ruining the economy, Islamofascists are threatening our safety, and homosexuals are undermining our morals? If you do, then replace "illegal aliens" with "Jews," "Islamofascists" with "Communists," and "homosexuals" with, well, "homosexuals." Then look in the mirror and take a good look at a loyal Nazi.

Life is one huge unit, made up of different kinds of people.There is the Rich,Middle Class and the Poor. Each one of Us try to Live the best that We can. Some have it much easier than other's.Then their are those who love to point finger's at everyone. It is these kind of people who seem to have the most problems of keepig their own door-step clean. Ellen, thank you for standing up for those who are un-able to even get to first base. Go get HER Ellen and let Her know that Her kind is not needed. God judge's US ALL, Her time is coming.

does it seem, we will ever see the end to the constant bombardment of issues pertaining to things that shouldn't even be in the news? where is it written that a persons sexuality should be at the forefront? lastly, drama, drama, drama......let's get on to more pressing issues, like world peace, hunger and teaching things other than keeping ones nose up other peoples butts.
