David Axelrod Fights Back: Slams Dick Cheney

Responding to Dick Cheney's assertions that Obama administration national security policies have left the nation less safe, David Axelrod told CNN this morning that he has a different perspective.

"I find it supremely ironic, on a day when we were meeting with NATO, to talk about the continued threat from al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where they're still plotting against us eight years -- or seven years later," he said. "I think the question for Mr. Cheney is, how could that be? How could this have gone so long? Why are they still in business?"

Satyam Khanna has the video.

I have to assume the White House welcomes these kinds of opportunities. The more Cheney takes cheap shots, the more Obama and his team get to respond. The result reinforces the notion that the political fight boils down to Obama's approach vs. the Bush/Cheney approach.

It's also why Republican leaders would prefer to have Cheney stop talking so much.

Digg!

an honorable, stand-up Leader doesn't need a media maven.

Obama is a terrible disappointment. He should have flown back here last night and been on the scene and addressed this country. WE matter, Turkey can wait.

Are Republicans Blackmailing Obama

this is a really interesting story about why the torture memos are not being released. I find it interesting because the more they block the progress of justice, the worse they look.

When do these US Senators get charged with obstructing justice or conspiracy to commit treason? it is obvious that is what they are up to. It is not only hurting our country, it is destroying our world.

They are insane, they must be stopped.

Torture claims shadow U.S. war on terror

Plopped into the middle of the story we find this factoid,

Millions of Americans are grateful to America's ex-president and his aides, as well as U.S. soldiers and spies, for keeping the country safe after 9/11.

Any investigations or potential prosecutions could set off a national debate complicating everything...

Of course they say for Obama, but we know the concern is it would actually complicate things for CNN. How do you cover a story you have been covering up?

Very carefully.

Are "millions" of Americans in fact actually grateful to the past administration for "keeping the country safe after 9/11", or is that just CNN's legal position and they are sticking to it?

The U.S. spends more on the so called "defense" budget than the next 13 countries under us COMBINED; much of it on outdated weapons more suited for the Cold War than what we face today so that the defense industry and the military can have its cake and eat it too. Yet, all of this couldn't stop a handful of terrorists from hijacking our passenger planes and blowing up the Twin Towers using only BOX CUTTERS as weapons!!! SURE!!! I felt safer under Bush/Cheney!!! Bush and Cheney are old news. Anything they say right now is just sour grapes.

"Slams" him??? Hardly! He dutifully never mentioned 9/11, the real crime.

Cheyney's big crimes all were birthed on 9/11, a day he and his buddies brought us. It is a fact that the official 9/11 story is a lie.
And yet, here we have a writer, supposedly "slamming" Cheyney, but he leaves out the lies of 9/11.
He apparently is obedient to the first law of the media in the new millenium: do NOT ever mention the inconsistencies, contradictions, impossibilities and coverup of 9/11.
To Alternet, this guy is a brave guy, mouthing off about Cheyney, no longer in power supposedly.
In reality, he, and Alternet, are playing a game.........a game they conspired to play. It is a game of censorship. We are NOT to be told about 9/11. Were they threatened, pressured? We don't know. Not one msm or alternative media journalist will come forward with the truth about this, or about 9/11.
No mention of the newest academic paper about the collapse of building seven by respected engineers and architects.
Find it here http://911research.wtc7.net/essays/thermite/expl

osives_evidence_timeline.html#summary

(reconnect those two lines to get the website........you can't have any "word" too long)

This is disgusting. NOT ONE mention, really, in seven and a half years.

Lack of intelligence?

I personally love when the Big Dick talks about the "gathering" of "intelligence." I support any effort he makes to improve himself considering the Cheney/Bush "cabal" blamed any mistake on a "lack of" or "bad intelligence. I as a speech writer would have quickly changed those "catch" phrases to "poor information" or "false positives." Then again, those statements were probably the closest to the "truth" we heard out of DC in those 8 years. Those two terms truly showed a complete lack of ANY intelligence.

As to Bush's "statesman" qualities: he's quiet because Dick doesn't have his hand up his back to make the dummy speak - or a tele-prompter!.

Crimes of Treason

Should the crimes of treason, by the Bush/Chaney Administration, be overlooked, then these crimes of high treason will be repeated in future administrations. The Allies conducted the Nürenberg Trials (in 1945 to 1949) for several reasons:

A) To make aware that these crimes were actually committed,

B) To examine HOW these crimes were able to be committed,

C) Who committed these crimes and

D) To punish the criminals.

Should the guilty not be punished, then, their Criminal Acts would be absolved and could easily be repeated. There would not be any justice.

“The true administration of justice is the firmest pillar of good government.”

Should the Bush/Chaney Administration (alleged) criminals not be prosecuted, not be brought to trial and not found guilty, then, like the Ronald Reagan Republican group, they will be glorified, deified and praised.

With ALL the evidence available: Eyewitnesses, Documents, Dead Bodies, Remnants of Death Camps, Newsreel clips, piles of clothes, piles of shoes, piles of hair, piles of eyeglasses, piles of gold teeth –COLD HARD EVIDENCE-, there are Holocaust Deniers being celebrated, glorified and believed.

So, too, these (alleged) criminals will be praised and glorified for future generations.
We will have not have learned from history –and the American society will repeat this debacle.

That it was the gangster Cheney at the center of things with the puppet Bush a convenient patsy for when it all went tits-up.

It was, efectively a CHENEY Administration, and since he had been appointed/selected and not elected he had no reservations about acting outside the traditional limits placed on Presidential power - remember this scumbag asserted he was not part of The Executive branch but still claimed executive priviledge when needed.

I fear he will escape indictment by waiting it out and dying.
