Dear God:

"I'll be honest with you. I don't think journalists should be anywhere allowed war. I mean, you guys report where our troops are at. You report what's happening day to day. You make a big deal out of it. I think it's asinine. You know, I liked back in World War I and World War II when you'd go to the theater and you'd see your troops on, you know, the screen and everyone would be real excited and happy for 'em. Now everyone's got an opinion and wants to downer, ah, down soldiers. You know, American soldiers or Israeli soldiers.

I think media should be abolished from, uh, you know, reporting. You know, war is hell. And if you're gonna sit there and say, "Well look at this atrocity," well you don't know the whole story behind it half the time, so I think the media should have no business in it."

Actually, scratch my appeal to the deity. If God existed and were either benevolent or just, Joe the Plumber's fifteen minutes of fame would have been over about five minutes before they started.

Digg!

Joe the Plumber, like Paris Hilton, but without all her brains.
Seriously, wasn't this guy on Jerry Springer ripping the shirt off of some bimbo during an on-stage scuffle? That would have been a step up for him.

Joe the faker - not a plumber, not a reporter, not even named Joe

When is everyone going to let this idiot crawl back under the rock where they found him. He's NOT a plumber, he's a plumber's helper at best. He's not a reporter, he's an idiot. His name isn't even Joe. He can't buy a business even if he wanted to - he's broke and owes back taxes. I was hoping that Israel might send some friendly fire his way but looks like they can't even do that right. Oh well.

if he's talking about the movies - or the news reels...

"I liked back in World War I and World War II when you'd go to the theater and you'd see your troops on, you know, the screen and everyone would be real excited and happy for 'em."

at any rate...what he doesn't understand is that there WAS opposition to both wars - not everyone cheered on the troops - censorship and simply ignoring opposition to the wars was much easier in the 19-teens and 1940s. (which isn't to say they haven't done a pretty good job of ignoring those opposing the war(s) today)...furthermore, just as now, the media actively participated in producing propaganda...for example frank capra was commissioned by the u.s. military and produced eight "documentary" propaganda films...

"joe" wasn't there (at the theaters or anywhere else for that matter) in WWI or WWII - all he knows is what little he's been taught in school with regard to WWI and WWII and i can guarantee (almost) NOTHING was said about those who opposed the wars...and in the unlikely event they were mentioned at all they were presented in a very negative light...

but i'm sure all this would be lost on "joe"...

If Joe the Dope's written reports will be anything like his statement in this article, than I predict a VERY short "career" for this chrome-domed idiot. He needs a ghost writer to help him make out a grocery list.

Then again, no one has ever gone broke underestimating what the public will fall for in our trendy, pop culture "reality."

"Joe the Plumber" and Sarah Palin, flag carriers of the Republican Party in the last election demonstrate dramatically and literally (illiterately?) why this country is in the shape it is after eight years of Republican rule. However, Joe became a celebrity for many and Sarah was and is loved by a significant number, so what does that say about America? Can anyone say with any confidence that any of the multitude of shitstorms this country now finds itself inundated with can be stemmed, no matter who might be in power?

While Sarah was sitting in the Governor's Mansion working on her foreign policy resume by keeping an eye on the Ruskies, even though she really couldn't see Russia from where she was, by god, she at least new what direction in which to look, old Joe was digging sewer trenches, gaining practical experience for his career as a celebrity, political pundit and "journalist."

As far as Joe beginning his "journalistic" career hating journalism, what is so strange about that? Our government for the last eight years was run by people who, as an article of principle, hate government. What could be more fitting?

Oh, yes, boys and girls, we are all in deep shit as we used to say. I have to wonder if it is even worth it to hope, or, rather, to take the route that roughly half this nation has. That is, manufacture a certain simple, nonsensical reality of choice and live merrily, while enjoying the creation of misery for all those outside this Romper Room bubble, until the roof collapses on their heads. Sometimes it is better to not know what hit you, no?

Tabloid Media Strikes Again

With corporate media personalities continuously being allowed to disseminate trash like this, the recovery for this country seems like an impossibility, as those Americans who refuse to deal with reality can engulf themselves in nonsense like this and later claim ignorance as to the sorry state of affairs we continue to suffer. The same people who find this interesting and informative are the same who believe duct tape will stop anthrax and that this administration and it's cronies are "fine, upstanding, God-fearing people" who never lied to us and actually care about them.

Somebody should point out to Joe that he effectively just claimed he wasnt to abolish the first amendment to the Bill of Rights.
