Dear Mr. President-elect,

My name is Jaime Lopez and I’m a junior at Castlemont High School, I maintain a 3.67 grade point average, I’m the captain of the Boys Soccer team, the school’s Cross Country running team and of the Boys Track & Field team. I recently went to Fresno to compete at the state meet. I am ranked top 3 in Oakland in Cross Country and I have the fastest 3 mile time in the city. Therefore I send you this letter in hope that my voice will be heard because it should be heard.

My classmates and peers were wondering what new immigration laws you where going to set up, because the United States isn’t just made up of whites, blacks, or Asians. Most Latin American families are living with the thought that this country isn’t going to get any better, but I think that it can with the combined help of the citizens and the president put together. We both can help each other by solving the Immigration problem. Also a problem that concerns me is that the country is falling under pressure because of economic problems. Good things are happening but even at that point, the country is bringing up good things from it like for example gas prices are dropping.

Some solutions I would like to see you come up with would be to let immigrant families come to the United States. This is a much safer place than where they come from. They flee their country in fear of theirs and then you kick them out. I don’t think that’s the right thing to do. If you would allow for immigrant families to come I can assure you that the economy problem would decrease dramatically because those families or individuals will provide more jobs.

I thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I hope you take my thoughts into recommendation.

 Sincerely,

Jaime Lopez

Junior, age 16, Leadership Preparatory High School
