GOP Loon Goes Off the Rails: Health Reform Greater Threat than Terrorism

The government's trying to put you to death, don't you know.

Few Republican congressional members have served as a greater fount for hyperbolic and uninformed ranting about health care reform as has Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC). As ThinkProgress previously documented, Foxx has claimed Democratic reforms would mean seniors are “put to death by their government,” that health reform is a “distraction,” and that “there are no Americans who don’t have health care.” She was at it again today on the House floor, arguing that health reform is a greater threat to our country than “any terrorist right now in any country”:

Everywhere I go in my district, people tell me they are frightened. … I share that fear, and I believe they should be fearful. And I believe the greatest fear that we all should have to our freedom comes from this room — this very room — and what may happen later this week in terms of a tax increase bill masquerading as a health care bill. I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country.

Watch it in the window to your right.

Digg!

I "fear" that we will not get the change we need in Washington D.C. and that the health care bill will be so watered down by fear mongering Republican idiots like this one that people will continue to suffer and die for lack of health care access in this country. I wish she and the other liars like her would just shut up and do the job the were elected to do for the American people that they are supposed to represent! People are dying out here every single day because profit driven insurance corporations are focused solely on profits, not helping sick people. It is criminal! Health Care and Insurance Company are contradictory terms and do not belong in the same sentence.

I 'fear' that Ms Foxx will continue to get HER government-subsidized socialist/terrorist health care (through the Congress) when she might actually need it later, unlike many of the rest of us.

Where do some of these nut jobs come up with this kind of nonsense and why doesn't someone call them out on it?

the Foxx is a hateful Cow

Virginia Foxx is the same hateful cow that stomped all over the memory of Matthew Shepard, while denouncing the Hate Crimes Bill in The House, and referring to the young man's brutal murder as a 'hoax', merely a 'robbery gone bad.'

hateful Republicans, like Virginia Foxx, have no shame whatsoever, nor a heart or conscience. Virgina Foxx is a vile excuse for a human being.

btw, for those who don't know, Matthew Shepard was a bright 21 year old student from Laramie, Wyoming, who was *viciously beaten* to death by two rabidly homophobic thugs, just because Matthew was openly GAY. Matthew's murderers targetted him outside of a well-known gay night club, then drove Matthew to a remote location, tied him to a fence, then beat him so badly that when a passerby spotted Matthew (barely alive) the following day, he at first thought Matthew was a "scare crow," because the severe and bloody beating had disfigured Matthew so badly, according to witness testimony.

To be this deceitful and prey upon the ignorance and fear of people is a sin upon humanity. The people are not ignorant, I have spent a lot time and worked down South often, but they are being fed lies and hate. This hateful piece of human waste is a black mark upon our Nation and our Government. These people will stop at nothing to stay in power or return to power. The entire game of the GOP and Neocons is raw political power, the US be damned, to hell with all our people as long as this breed of monster can stay in office and do the bidding of her masters. Just another sorry day in America. I fear for my children and my fellow Americans.

Now I know who those terrorists they always claim are coming into the US from Canada. They are single payer health care advocates.

I counted so you don't have to. 9 uses of fear, fearful or frightened. Two uses of freedom. All in about one minute. I have an F word for you, Ms. Foxx. Never mind, that would be too easy.

is this womans family tree, a stick??
there has obviously been some inbreeding and switch backs, because this woman couldn't find her ass with both hands.
She is Stunningly stupid and terrifyingly crazy. She runs a close second only to 'Shell, the batshit brainfrozen dumbas from MN.
The Dems have their share of Dumbasses, including some of the females. But few can even reach the bar on crazy the Repug Women have set.
These nutcases would be fine if they only represented the Repug party, but these are woman, so they in fact also 'represent' The american woman.
Do these bubble heads realize they are in the UNITED STATES House of Reps? Not their little cowpoke district? When they are speaking on the Floor or in an interview their words are not only heard by their constitutents, but All the American People, and they become a 'Face' to the International community!?! In fact the lie they hide behind is that they are representing their state in DC. But since they are in DC and in the seats of power over the Federal Gov't- they actually work for all of US regardless where they come from.
It is their people who pick them to, but it is Our nations Capitol. When they take the oathe for these US legislative offices,it was to serve and protect the American People for whom the US Constitution was written.

Or the villain from "This country for old men"..
Can you say THUMP?!!!

She is the epitome of an ignorant fear monger.
Reflecting very, very poorly on the people of NC's 5th district(Winston-Salem, Mt Airy)..
What is wrong with you people, is there something in the water?
Perhaps a coal ash pond nearby?

Wake up and kick this old crone to the curb!

I live in NC and I thank God frequently that I do not live in Virginia Foxx's district. Or Sue Myrick's, she of the Muslim-intern bashing. MY US Rep is Mel Watt, the OTHER Rep for the Charlotte area.

And Charlotte has a new mayor, Anthony Foxx, a black male Democrat... everything that Virginia is NOT. So when you hear of a Foxx in NC from now on, it won't always be a BAD thing!

And there's still the state of SC so we in NC don't look so bad. Recently the SC Asst AG, who kept a bag of sex toys in his car "just in case", got caught with an 18 year old stripper. In a public park. By a state trooper. Who called the AG's office... where the Asst AG's wife works and she answered the phone... (There's a whole article in Truthout.)
