As a national bill to address climate change and energy limps its way to the the Senate, it's heartening to know that the future of our world doesn't solely depend on Waxman-Markey's American Clean Energy and Security Act.

Thanks to the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE), there is terrific outreach going on to engage high school students and give them the information and encouragement they need to help us effectively combat global warming. ACE educators are conducting free assemblies in high schools across the country.

And the best thing is that they are reaching youth in an engaging way. Check out the video to the right to see a trailer about the assemblies they put together for schools. By using the latest science from the IPCC and conveying it in language that is accessible to youth, they are helping to win over a generation that has incredible tools for taking action and enormous potential to help create change.

"During our presentations, we encourage students to thoughtfully consider the science behind climate change and continue to learn more," said Alisha, one of ACE's climate educators. "We provide interested students the opportunity to connect with organizations that can help them start projects to reduce the impacts of climate change."

If you're a youth, a parent, an activist or an educator -- visit their website and find out how to get their program into your community. There are 22 million high school students in the U.S. right now and we sure could use their help.

Thank you Tara. Leave it to the mirthless Left to unconsciously speak the truth:

"Finally, Someone Has Made Fighting Global Warming Cool"

Couldn't agree more. Since Global Warming since 1940 has been tiny, and in the past two years temperatures have dropped, all the yapping about the noncrisis of "global warming" must have cooled off the fires to the nice comfy temps with enjoy today without I might add the heavy handed Stalinist carbon caps the "democrats" of the UN love so much. PS Alternet's been running some good stuff on Goldman Sachs control of our economy and slimpy pols(like Obama!). Put your ace economic reporters and contacts on how much Goldman will suck out of working people by price manipulation of carbon prices and futures.

But Tara, thanks for the ironic humor."Global Warming Cool". Indeed it is. Yuk.

This is a fantastic story! I hope we can do enough in time to save our world. It is a scary prospect if we don't.

Once again, thank god for AlterNet, what would we do without you? Stories like this make me proud of my support for AlterNet, like I am getting my money's worth and supporting something I believe in.

Speaking of media we do and do not believe in, check out this major new embarrassment,

I'll be looking forward to Andrew's explanation of why it is morally OK for his magazine do this sort of thing. I want him to put that together into context of media leading us all wrongly into illegal invasions of sovereign countries and how that was all just a big, innocent mistake that no one involved should held to account for.

It looks like a big fat conspiracy to commit treason to me. But wait, it wasn't treason because it was about 'national security' (oil). Here is the proof,

This is a fantastic approach to the pollution problem & something I endorse when it comes to directing impressions on children. It is constructive problem solving at it's best.
