Sarah Palin Doesn't Know What a Vice-President Does

Posted by Chris Bowers, Open Left at 11:20 AM on August 29, 2008.

Palin on the position she has been nominated for " ... what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?"

Don't take it from me -- take it from Palin herself:

Here is a rough transcript, with the money quote coming in at around 2:50:

"[A]s for that V.P. talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?
She doesn't know, huh? Hopefully, she has read The Constitution since she made that statement.

Has she not paid attention to what Cheney has been up to the last eight years? Does she not comprehend the potential power she could have at her disposal? The position of VP has been redefined since GWB has been in office. This woman is so not qualified to be VP. Her lack of experience and her apparent lack of education are astonishing given the potential gravity of the position she could hold. There are mayors in cities all over this country who have better qualifications and experience than a first-term governor of one of the least populated states in the country. Does she have any foreign policy experience? Can she find Europe on a map? McCain's age and medical history requires a VP who truly is ready "on day one" to be president, too. This seeming airhead isn't.

A Republican governor has been following along the public lessons from Cheney 101. Alaskans have taken their oil industry checks with a smile for years (until recently). Exploitation of natural resources almost becomes a reflex, especially when you marry into the aboriginal gene pool. This governor is a taker. No doubt there is much she can bring to this afflicted, elitist campaign of K Street John. My guess is an inflated sense of oil yet unexploited by offshore drilling. Don't look for her to get the API to explain from whose poopchute they pulled their numbers from.

Palin probably has no idea what the President does all day either--talk about experience--guess ol' John thinks he has enough for both of them--but suppose he DIES.....

The VP headed up the senate and waited for the president to die. Dick changed all that. And if McCain does get elected the lovely Ms. Sara will be fetching the coffee and leaving the men alone to do important things. Cheny won't be going far. That's my objection to McCain's choice. His choice is Dick Cheney. I do wish the Dems would make some noise about this. The choice raises many uncomfortable questions. Thanks, ANNA

She doesn't know what the VP does? Big deal. Americans don't know even a fraction of what the CURRENT vice-president has been up to either!

Ha! I KNEW she would be wearing glasses before I saw a picture of her. I bet those are props. The handlers want her to look smart, and all.

It doesn't matter to the voters they are seeking

I've got to believe this has been Rove tested to the hilt. The voters they hope to appeal to don't think like those of us on here. They are not generally engaged in the political process outside of voting (maybe) in major elections every two or four years. They see a "war hero" and a "soccer mom" against an uppity black supposed Muslim and an old white establishment Senator with a reputation for having a big mouth.

All the Rethugs have to do is get this close enough to steal the election again. It's dead even now, Obama didn't get much of a bump and McCain stole the headlines the next day with his choice of Palin. The corporate media is going right along. McCain has been about as Teflon coated as Reagan with the MSM, deliberately, I'm sure, so most people are not hearing the really negative stuff about either of them. You really have to hunt and work to get the real picture about any of them, and if you do, you would probably come to the conclusion I have - they are ALL bought and paid for, so you might as well vote Green Party and send them a message.

Pay Attention NOW.... Sex Sells!

And I am sure FOX news is drooling all over themselves now that they have some new cleavage and good looks(sic) to put up during their newscasts. How long will it take them to start showing the New VP pick in her bikini back in the day?

Selling sex works for every other thing for sale in this f'ed up world so why not politics. So while this VP choice will win over all those shithead Democratic delegates and supporters who have publically cut their own party's throat by stating they will vote Republican due to Hillary not beating a Black Man for the nomination. It will also suck in the vote of all those testosterone filled idiots who vote with the wrong head, not to mention enamoured lesbians and feminists.

It is so reassuring to know that the "Supposed most powerful nation on earth" has approximately 175 million sexist, racist, childishly high school acting people voting for a leader.

Gotta love that "If it's not a woman" or "If he's black" I'm gonna vote for the other person mentality while completely ignoring anything close to qualifications. Ranks right up their with those unintelligent, uneducated folks who vote for the party regardless of who is running, because their Daddy or Mommy did.

I feel so bad for the roughly 125 million intelligent people out there. Good night and good luck!
