Conservatives Cheered Reagan at The Wall; See Shadows of Nazi Past in Obama's Germany Visit

While Obama was giving a pretty good speech in Berlin, conservative bloggers felt a cold breeze blowing across American history, reminding them of History Channel documentaries with names like Hitler: The Rise of Evil. While some were merely riled-up-as-usual by any country that doesn't speak English -- like NextRight's Patrick Ruffini, who's aggrieved that an event in Germany was publicized using handbills printed in German -- others plunged further into dread.

The leader of the huge blog Red State, writer Erick Erickson, can't believe Obama didn't pick up on the horrifying "military history" associated with the Victory Column, which the senator stood in front of, and which plenty of anti-Nazi Germans have spoken in front of, and which was built after the Prussians beat Denmark in an 1864 territorial war neither of us had heard of. Ejaculates Erickson: "He'll say anything and do anything to get himself elected." Will the MSM force Obama to admit that, as president, he will do nothing to stop Duke Frederick III from annexing duchies?

(Meanwhile, the Washington Post's Chris Cilizza, with a low estimate of the intelligence of the American public, wonders aloud if it will be somehow awful for Americans to see Obama cheered by our allies, the Germans.)

The Barack-as-a-Nazi idea has been big in the conservative world lately. At Free Republic and quite a few other sites, people who weren't bothered by the creation of the Starship Troopers-esque Department of Homeland Security are sweating over rumors that Obama wants to start a sinister secret police force.

It all started with a piece at WorldNetDaily, quoting an Obama speech in which the senator called for "a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Though Obama went on to talk about public service instead of martial law, and the Campaign Silo is pretty sure he was just improvising a bad metaphor, this has kicked off a variety of nightmare scenarios in the Right world.

"So if I enlist, will I be grandfathered into the Black Muslim - Nation of Islam , even though I'm white?" asks one poster. Another, "seanrobins," suspects it will "resemble the Mugabe militia in design and practice," just like the goons who work for Zimbabwe's dictator, with the Obama Corps coming to your house, taking your white person's property and laughing.

Why are the Media Still Making Excuses for McCain's Negativity?
McCain knows exactly what he's doing. He hired Karl Rove's acolytes to turn McCain's campaign into exactly the insulting mess we see today.

BushCo on Whether the Country is in a Recession: 'Don't Know'
Bush and his administration have long resisted admitting that the economy is in trouble by quibbling about the technical definition of "recession."

Obama and Hitler

I have seen a lot of conservative comments linking Obama to Hitler, and I don't even read their blogs that much. So they are trying everything to see what sticks. He's the most liberal Senator, but also compared to the ultra-conservative Hitler. How can he be both?

Now they're also complaining about Obama's news coverage. My answer is "when John McCain speaks in front of 200,000 cheering people, that will be news, too." So far, he hasn't. As anyone in the media knows, Obama's the one making news. McCain isn't. You can't give coverage to someone who's not making news, because that would be unequal coverage.

Hilter comparisons

The McCain camp is desperate and it shows. Him and his campaign can't energize their base and don't have a strong central message. In contrast, Obama has energized his base and consistently stays on message.

These Hitler comparisons and questions about Obama's patriotism are just signs that McCain and his campaign have nothing substantial to attack with. Most of the MSM is giving McCain a free pass with all his gaffes, hoping to keep the election close to gain ratings. Even with this help, McCain keeps appearing on TV as uncertain and error-prone, while Obama appears presidential.

Hopefully Obama and his campaign keep handling the attacks with skill, because I'm sure we haven't seen the worst of them yet.

That is why all McSame has everyday are attacks. Day after day, grumpy old man yelling at sky shaking fist (in cheese aisle), tiresome and very boring. He is either droning on and on or ranting on and on, boring, irksome, not attractive at all. No wonder even what should be his base are uninspired and unexcited.

SO! Attack! Attack! Attack! Obama's elitist, Obama's black, Obama's not black enough, Obama's Moslem, no, Obama's Christian but his reverand is crazy, Obama has no foreign policy experience, whoops, 200,000 and leaders he met LOVE him, Obama's like Hitler (or Castro), Obama is responsible for high gas prices even though he's been in Washington D.C. one year and McSame has been there 25 and is riding GWB's coattails on policy issues and seems to have at least a bit of dementia, his campaign is in total disarray, Obama's a 50 state machine with paid staff and millions, MILLIONS, of energitic absolutely delighted volunteers hitting the streets registering millions of new democrats every day. How can it get better? The many differences between parties will become abundantly clear when their platforms are laid out at the conventions. That will seal the deal, it will be sweet, I can hardly wait.

The republican party is F*&@$#!

BARACK THE VOTE!

Well, I stay away for low class sites but I haven't seen nor do i understand linking Obama to Hitler.

Here is a guy that will pull this nation together and has seemed to receive the support of most western nations, talks tough against Iran, agrees we need to clear Al Qaeda out of Afghanistan, knows he'll be in Iraq for some time to come.

If he leaves middle class taxes alone he'll be near perfect.
