GOP Rep Shamelessly Attempts to Link Obama with Al Qaeda

Posted by Pam Spaulding, Pam's House Blend at 6:38 PM on March 8, 2008.

I wonder if McCain thinks this is how his supporters on the Hill should campaign on his behalf.

"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida ... would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror."
-- Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa 5th), basing his prediction of a possible Obama presidency on the Illinois senator's pledge to pull troops out of Iraq, his Kenyan heritage and his middle name, Hussein.

King, who is up for re-election in a conservative district, said in the next breath that his comments were not meant to demean Obama. I wonder if McCain thinks this is how his supporters on the Hill should campaign on his behalf.

In what cannot be a surprise to Blenders, this is on King's web site:

I support marriage between one man and one woman. Marriage is the building block of the family, of community and of society. I do not support allowing special legal rights based on sexual orientation. I believe the traditional American family, together with conservative values, forms the bedrock of our free society. States should not be forced to recognize the same-sex marriages of other states. I am the original co-sponsor of a Constitutional amendment to defend the definition of marriage as the union between a man and a woman.

Proof We Elect Dumb People

I imagine he would have the same problem if someone named Adolf or George were running. After all one is the same name as the leader of the Nazis the other is the name of an advocate of war and torture. But, Iowa is a place where skinheads, nazis, and racist LA cops seem drawn. If this guy hadn't opened his mouth I might assume it's because there is open space which, gives cover. Now I'm left thinking maybe cover isn't necessary when you're an Iowa bigot.

So, let's see...if freedom is denied to certain of our citizens, this action will strengthen "the bedrock of our free society."

Who is Rep. King's Democratic opponent? I want to make a campaign contribution.

Islamists Would Consider Obama an A

Representative King obviously doesn't know much about fundamentalist Islam. The fact that Obama is a Christian with a Muslim father and name wouldn't endear him to hardliners; they would consider him an apostate deserving of the death penalty based on Mohammed's hadith: "Whoever changes his religion, kill him."

OBAMA HAS TO SPEAK UP

He has to define himself instead of being the subject of speculation. By allowing people to read into everything about him he gives them the opportunity to assume the worst. I thought by now he would clear up questions about his early life. We don't all want to read two books to find out what we need to know so we can decide whether or not to vote for him. He is completely thrown by adversity of any kind. Doesn't like to to challenged. Thanks, ANNA

The Clintons are, why wouldn't the repugs?

The Clintons are attacking, or challenging, Obama in the same ways, why wouldn't the repugs use it too? Of course they will, it is expected right? When a candidate is inadequate in so many other ways that is what they do. Of course, there are people that get off on spreading hate and fear.

Hillary Clinton's campaign gets more negative and outrageous with every passing day and seven weeks to PA. She will frighten as many voters as possibe, she doesn't care how if it wins votes, doesn't care what it does to the party, certainly doesn't care about integrity. If we accept the reprehensible campaign tactics employed by The Clintons how can we complain about the repugs?

The "hillary group" doesn't seem to grasp exactly what she has done. I have never heard ANY dem candidate trash another dem candidate in favor of the repug nominee! NEVER. This is the most whacked thing Ms. "I am so honored to be on the stage with Barack Obama" has done yet! UNBELIEVABLE!

As a former (Bill) Clinton supporter throughout ALL of the 1990's (yes, even during the KEN STARR ERA...........), this form of post-victory pile-on and crowing from the HRC camp are totally disgusting, and I think this new stuff (MCCAIN IS SUCH A GREAT GUY... OBAMBA = KEN STARR etc) is the final straw for me personally. Up until now, I would have been a loyal Democrat like I always am and punched the button for her in November, despite the lack of enthusiasm and the misgivings... but now I don't think I can do it even if I hold my nose with a garlic strand around my neck. If she pulls this off and manages to swindle the nomination, I will:

A. withdraw from the Democratic party rolls, cease contribution, and register as an independent.

B. Write-in Senator Obama's name in November and encourage all of my fellow Obama supporters and friends to do the same.

Five months is plenty of time to organize a write-in campaign.

The Clintonistas are treating the party (and have done this since the beginning- it was quaint at first but now it isn't funny) as if it were their own personal organization that they built and we're just their employees. We are called the DEMOCRATIC party for a REASON. Entitlement is not and should not be a part of our process. If that's what you want, why don't you follow Joe Lieberman over to the new "left" wing of the Republican Party- HRC clearly seems to be paying lip-service to that approach.

Super Delegates have a DUTY to their Party to defend it from enemies without and within. The Clintons are and have always be n the enemies within. The are not Democrats and do not support or usher in Democratic values. Never have, never will.

Super Delegates have a duty to set limits on the morality, loyalty and decency of their candidates. If they do not respond to her support of a Republican in this campaign then they all deserve to be fired.

I would rather loose with an honorable Obama than win with a Traitorous McClinton.
Enough is enough. Set some standards of decency. Stand up to the Clinton slime machine, Get a grip and make a stand.

I think as Democrats we should petition the DNC to call for Mrs. Clinton's removal as a candidate since she has endorsed the Republican candidate thereby sabotaging not only Mr. Obama's candidancy, but her own as well. She's no Democrat, but a closet neocon Republican.

PHONE THE DNC: 1-202-479-5100

As Americans we should be outraged not only at the tactics of the Clinton campaign, but also at the audacity of elevating the candidate of the opposition party over a democratic candidate currently leading in delegate counts.

The Super Delegates should be running from her and Bill Clinton. She just told them that she would rather tear the party down and endorse the Republican candidate than lose the primary to Obama.

It's up to right-thing voters of western Iowa

It's up to the voters of King's congressional district - western Iowa - to disavow the prejudiced rants of their congressman. They should be embarrassed, if not appalled.

Vote him out!
And thanks to bryangalt for the information about King's Democratic primary opponents.

Are the majority in this country that voluntarily ignorant that they don't realize that the morality and values we are becoming known for represent the worst that humanity has to offer? It's a shame that many Americans accept dishonesty as the norm instead of the exception. Honesty and good morals should not depend upon political and/or social group affiliations.
When adults ask what's wrong with the youth in this country, they usually point to some outside influence instead of looking at themselves.
Its the so-called "good Americans" who are taking this country into the gutter by going along with those who stroke their egos and/or who condone behavior against others, that, otherwise, would be reprehensible if directed towards them, their loved ones and friends.
Role models, in reality, are those who influence the everyday lives of children. Every child, like every adult, will not stand up for what's right. What future monsters are being created?
