Romney Reconsiders McCain Endorsement, May Rejoin '08 Race

And Josh, one of Romney's five sons, may run for congress in Utah.

This morning's L.A. Times claims Willard is reassessing his endorsement of John McCain and may jump back into the GOP presidential race in light of McCain's inability to attract any support from conservatives and in light of all the scandals that have already come up concerning McCain's dealing with lobbyists. ("Everyone" in Washington-- except apparently his soul sister Joe Lieberman-- knows McCain hasn't been loyal to Cindy in many, many years and that he's always chasing around like a cat in heat. Normal Americans don't care about this kind of thing; the Republican base does.) "Josh Romney, one of former Gov. Mitt Romney's five sons, says it's 'possible' his father may rejoin the race for the White House, either as a vice presidential candidate or seek to become the Republican Party's standard bearer if the campaign of Sen. John McCain falters."

And that isn't the only political race Josh is concerned with. According to today's Desert Morning News Josh himself may be running... for Congress. There is talk of Josh taking on reactionary Blue Dog Democrat Jim Matheson.

Utahns may get the chance to vote for a Romney this November after all-- Josh Romney, the son of former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, says he's considering a run for Congress.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Mitt Romney may end up on the ballot as a vice presidential candidate-- or even, some suggest, the party's nominee if the campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., continues to falter.

Josh Romney told the Deseret Morning News that after a year of campaigning across country for his father, he's been approached to run as a Republican against 2nd Congressional District Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah.

"I haven't ruled it out," Josh Romney, 32, of Millcreek, said of becoming a candidate himself. "I'm pretty young, but I've had good experience on the campaign trail." [He drove a motor home to all 99 counties in Iowa and blogged about it.] Plus, he said, he likely could count on his father's supporters here in Utah.

...Josh Romney is the only one of the family's five sons who lives in Utah. His father, who served as the head of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, was considered a "favorite son" presidential candidate in Utah.

Mitt Romney collected more contributions in Utah than in any other state except California and won Utah's Feb. 5 GOP primary with 90 percent of the vote. He and his family are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as are the majority of Utahns.

Just when I thought Shitt Romney couldn't possibly prove himself more of a worthless bag of garbage... he finds a way.

Personally, I believe that the Bush twins and all of the Romney boys should be put at the top of the list when the draft for Iraq finally starts up. But we all know not a single one of them will be drafted or ever join at all.

Anybody notice that the NYT article on McCain and Isemann and the rumbling of Romney's possible political ressurection happened in less than a week? The only two explanations I can think of (equally plausible) is that Romney or a Romney supporter used some influence to get the story in print or Romney decided to seize the opportunity that presented itself.

Whichever is the case, it doesn't show good judgement. What's needed in the GOP right now is some common cause to rally around. All three leading Republican candidates have yet to find it. The only thing they've succeeded in doing is dividing their party into armed camps that will kill each other before the Dems even show up. Romney is only going to make that problem worse if he jumps back in.

Their convention should be VERY interesting!

I really don't believe they are going to be able to get their acts together. George Herbert Walker Bush pretty much 'inherited' the presidency from Reagan. Bushie II inherited the presidency from his pa. MCCAIN has lost that advantage. He is a HORRIBLE public speaker, he is OLD, old looking, old old old rhetoric, doesn't have a clear message that will work for any sane voter, can't even REMEMBER stuff! and now has a scandal of his own to worry about.

MCPain MIGHT become the party nominee, only time will tell I guess. However I believe 'conservative voters' will rebel and split off. MCPain will be losing votes to Paul, Huckleberry, some may go off with Romney, Bloomberg MIGHT still jump in, again taking votes from McPain.

For me, as a Progressive and a pragmatist, Michavelli couldn't have come up with a better
scenario to report on; Dudley Doo Riot Romney
Comes to the Rescue, to the souund of trimphally
blairing bugles!! Ta ta da DEEEEEEEE!!

Internecine warfare amongst these warrior/war mongerers is certainly delightful to watch, and indeed, not a surprising scenario at all. When sharks go on a feeding frenzy, at the slightest hint of blood, all bets are off and it will be a wonder if any of those fools can make it to the general election without a severe limp and excessive bandaging.

This has made my week, and it has but barely begun. Thank you, my friend, fate.

Heaven help us ... not another chicken-hawk "super-patriotic" REPUKLICAN running for Congress!!! The war in Iraq is great [and usually financially profitable] so long as they don't have to serve!!!

Romney back in the "race"? Fine; let him run. He was a loser before, and he's a loser now.
