As was the case the last time Jon Stewart hosted the Oscars, the audience just doesn't seem to get him. Unlike Billy Crystal, Stewart has a tendency to poke fun at the self righteousness and self absorption of Hollywood and I guess they don't like laughing at themselves. Nevertheless, I found this bit from his opening appearance funny. He riffs on the failure of Iraq War themed dramas, the preference of Hollywood for Democrats and how until now only movies would envision a black or female president. Check out the video to your right for more.

Jon is a Hollywood 'outsider', no wonder they don't 'get' him

I LOVE JON, HE IS BRILLIANT!

However I don't understand WHY they bring him in to host the Academy Awards, it went this way the last time, they don't 'get him', they are SELF ABSORBED. Of course they don't want to hear it said out loud! Jon speaks truthiness! That is why so many people love him.

He is a New Yorker, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MENTALITY, why they bring him in to host a Hollywood event is beyond me.

I LOVE YOU JON, AMERICA IS LUCKY TO HAVE YOU AND YOUR TRUTHINESS! THANK YOU!

he was going to do the opening monologue, I'd have taped that part of it.
The rest is for those with no lives.

“No Country For Old Men”

Would this be-

-The winning title for the best motion picture of the year?

-The Democratic presidential general election strategy?

...I think he was more relaxed and it showed. He was funnier and had more off-the-cuff humor than last time. It was sweet how he took the Czech singer from the Best Song award back out to do her speech, too.
