It's Hard Out Here for a Ron Paul Blimp [VIDEO]

What the Paul campaign lacks in organizational structure, they certainly make up for in style.

Slate is on blimp beat:

There's something perfectly Paulian about the blimp. It's a stunt, in the best sense of the term--big, memorable, and utterly silly--a lot like Ron Paul's candidacy itself, at least in the eyes of outsiders. The project isn't affiliated with the Paul campaign--FEC regulations forbid collaboration--but it does try to preserve the spirit. "We see what they're doing, and we try to fit their image," Hornal says.

I think they've succeeded.

Some acolytes see Ron Paul as the heir to Howard Dean, tactically if not ideologically. Like Deaniacs, Paulites (or, if you prefer, -tards) organize "meetups," where they can hang out and chat with like-minded politicos. Dean fans also pledged online. But Paul's clan has advanced the ball. Ideas like the money bomb and the blimp get floated on various Ron Paul forums, where they're alternately nurtured, rejected, developed, and finally acted upon. That's why it's hard for one person to take all the credit. The clown car is bigger than ever, but no one person is steering.

Another aspect of the movement's Web-based strategy is documentation. Let me rephrase that: overdocumentation. Today, every moment--every conversation, every quip, every striking vista--is being recorded. Everyone has a camera pointed at everyone else. It's like the last scene from Reservoir Dogs, but with photographers.

My favorite Ron Paul video is this Launch of the Ron Paul Blimp. The soundtrack, appropriately, sounds sort of like "The Ride of the Valkyries" played on a farfisa organ.

What they lack in organizational structure, they certainly make up for in style.

Ron Paul received contributions from over 100,000 different people this quarter. He received $18,000,000 from those 100,000 people. His support is wide and deep. Look around your town and notice you see RP signs everywhere. Grab a cup of coffee and go to http://freeme.tv

Ron Paul supporters have done their homework and they know that Dr. Paul is the only candidate that is not a member of the, Council on Foreign Relations. The CFR owns the Federal reserve bank (cause of the great depression and the devalue of the dollar) They also have great stock in Lockheed and Halliburton (making millions off of the blood of our soldiers) The Ron Paul Revolution is about taking our country back from the elite "think tank" who make money their God.

The most enthusiatic people-driven grass roots effort in either party

To suggest that the Ron Paul grassroots efforts are unorganized is a laughable characterization. The well coordinated moneybombs and numerous meetup groups should be evidence enough of our ability to come together in a coordinated effort.

Yes, the effort is distributed, decentralized and independently driven. However, the collective Ron Paul grass-roots organization is the envy of every other candidate.

Centralized planning is an inherently weak method for producing a creative, diverse and productive movement capable of effecting change at the individual level. When the polls open soon I think you will see that we are organized enough to win our candidate the nomination.

Otherwise this was a decent attempt to marginalize Dr. Paul's campaign, what with the paultard reference and everything.

IF Money was the Deciding Factor....

......Ron Paul would win HANDS DOWN!!! All the other Repug candidates are either broke, fast running out of money, or borrowing excessively, or in the case of Romney, using up tons of his own cash just to score a few points. If those candidates are so popular as the MSM would have you believe, then why are they going broke? Shouldn't they be have been receiving tons of cash from their supporters??

Dr. Paul, on the other hand, is flush with cash, is raising more money, is not in debt, and has good people managing the campaign's financial matters. The day is not over yet....

Let's see if I understand why...

...... everyone's so excited about Ron Paul.

1) He rejects the principle of separation of church and state.
2) He rejects evolution as "just a theory," no more vald than the "theory" laid out in Genesis.
3) He favors dismantling every social saftey net because it will "balance the budget."
4) He doesn't believe Cheney or Bush deserve impeachment.
5) He believes that the solution to environmental degradation is to have every inch of the planet owned by someone.
6) He graciously accepts campaign contributions from white supremisists.

Oh yea, this guy seems like he might be the perfect choise for '08.

The music is from an old school Final Fantasy game. It's the music that plays whenever you ride in an Airship (basically a big blimp); airships are a staple of the Final Fantasy series. Apparently Ron Paul's fans are quite an eclectic bunch.

Ron Paul on social safety nets:
Posted by: reval on Dec 27, 2007 9:10 AM

"No one familiar with the history of the past century can doubt that private charities, particularly those maintained by persons motivated by their faith to perform charitable acts, are more effective in addressing social needs than federal programs. Therefore, the sponsors of HR 7, the Community Solutions Act, are correct to believe that expanding the role of voluntary, religious-based organizations will benefit society."

Sound familiar?

Yea, that's great thinking indeed. Want a kinder more egalitarian society? Make sure more bucks get into the hands of Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed, Jerry Falwell Jr., Jim Dobson and Tim Wildmon to name just a few of the greatest philantropists of the 20th century. Hell, why don't we make sure that the Catholic Church gets the bulk of our support. They've done a great job, nationally and internationally, so far. Oh yea, let's do everything we can to help all of them give everyone much more of their godly compassion.
