Today, a federal jury found Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) guilty on all seven counts of making false statements on his financial disclosure regarding "$250,000 in home renovations and other gifts he received from an oil contractor." According to the AP, Stevens "faces up to five years in prison on each count, but under federal sentencing guidelines, he would likely receive much less prison time, if any." Watch MSNBC's report:

UPDATE: Stevens is currently locked in a tough re-election race against Democrat Mark Begich, and the Hill observers that the verdict could "spell the end of a 40-year ... career for a man" who is currently the Senate's longest-serving Republican.

UPDATE II: Sarah Palin has not yet released a statement on the Stevens verdict. Palin once served as director of the 527 group Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc. So far, she has also refused to call for his resignation.

UPDATE III: At a July press conference in Anchorage, Palin and Stevens couldn't stop lavishing praise on one another. Palin said that she had "great respect for the senator. He needs to be heard across America. His voice, his experience, his passion, needs to be heard across America." Watch it:

are coming home to roost!

The thieves and liars are being exposed! And Palin has strong ties to Stevens. There was a story about a week ago about the same company that built Stevens' house also built Palin's.

Somebody better start digging into it!

One of the longest running crooks in Washington, but with great support of the voters, who were quite aware of his swindling, and thus in some measure are responsible. Greed and avarice abound and trump honesty and integrity.

Isn't America great! This is the best news I've had in 2 years! With all the sad news reported today, on and off the "Elections" topic, this made my day.

Who will now pay for Palin's PR firm to promote her to the White House? With that crook in prison, once his estate has paid back all of us, a "bridge" will no longer be there, either, for other MOC who try to secret our tax-dollars upstream to their private bank accounts, off-shore, if you will. OPPS. That's why those off-shore accounts were not being regulated by the SEC, and the Fed! Imagine that!

Now, to really grab Palin's knees, when Americans realize that surviving poverty will be so much easier with our minorities around, we'll be all right. Just ask Marsalis, give us music, food, and one another, and we'll be fine, so fine!

On to November for our new Administration! Bushey boy will be headni' on out soon, so move-in, ya'll!

Sounds like we need a 'good governance' policy

In Africa the US government and international organizations are always preaching good governance. Foreign aid, trade status, and so forth are to be dependent upon good governance. One of the signs of poor governance is that crooked politicians are known, but still seek election and are often re-elected. If they are crooked, they obviously get more money to run campaigns. Ted Stevens and the GOP perhaps could use a few lessons themselves.

Seems this is the M.O.
Attack Sen Obama on some None association, just before the release of information regarding a REAL associations between Mac/Palin and Who/What ever
So If They say Kilpatrick, we say Stevens
They say Wright , We say Hagee
They say Rezco, We say....Well every scumbag on Wallstreet
They say Ayers, We say '80's Freedom Fighters'(aka AQ)AND Saddam Hussien
And On And On And On
Appears Mac may even lose his own state-Gone Pink
Olbermann suggested Mac comes out and condemns tha actions of the psycho girl, but I think Mac Would be best served to Condemn his own campaign's behavior so MAYBE he'll have his Senate seat when he losses.
Had he Not fired his first campaign staff he would have lost, but probably with an ounce of integrity still in tact.
Since he hired the Cheneycorp Hit squad, it's not only his policies which are deplorable, but his persona.
Olbermann gave him the benefit of the doubt regarding being aRacist..WHY?
McCain is obviously not only Sexist he's a full Fledged memeber of the 'He man Woman Haters Club'
Sad Epilogue to This Epic story.
Moderate republican who had not only a good portion of his party members favor ,but even got a 'Pass' from Liberals for Decades, Now going down in Flames.
If Mac thought his crash in the jungle was the hardest landing he'd ever been expereinced, He'd better wait until Nov 5.
If he loses (Pray) he'll go down as one of history's most sleazy nasty campaigns. If they should steal it for him, He might as well repeat the oath of office in Quacks.

PS Big Kudos to my Gov. Jen Granholm, When asked by Rachel Maddow how Michiganders are feeling she responded in Unison with me 'Mad as Hell!'. Mac has not only lost MI for himself, but has pissed Us off enough to run every Repug out of Office and Keep them out in the future. Bush may have made the Republican brand 'Dog Food', But Mac has made it Dog Shit!
ALSO a HUGE Thanks to the UAW for running Mac's Ass Out of our state, Ya Done Us Proud Again!

Stephens wins re-election; Senate kicks him out; Palin appoints herself Senator from Alaska. Trick or Treat.

taking his name off the ballot! He's going through with his Senate race!

Personally, I think he's batshit crazy. I mean that literally. He's off his rocker. And it's also entirely possible that when the Congress re-convenes after the election, Stevens will be removed. Having a convicted felon as a sitting Senator doesn't play very well out here in America!

Aren't allowed to vote in many states, but they can retain their Senate seats. Does anyone else see something just a wee bit wrong with this?
