McCain Takes His Party Prisoner

John McCain is his own worst prisoner. And jailer too.

Candidate psychology will out. Last week I wrote about how John McCain seemed to be re-enacting his torture-and-survival experience in Vietnam by repeatedly flip-flopping from Hound of Baskervilles to Scooby Doo on the campaign trail. And Wednesday afternoon, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, he actually called the crowd at a McCain-Palin rally "my fellow prisoners."

Hanging from this Freudian slip--that neither he, nor Sarah Palin, nor his daughter Meghan seemed to notice--is a long foxtail of meanings. McCain has written that his experience in Vietnam taught him to dedicate his life to a higher cause than himself alone, giving him a sense of purpose that carried him into politics (and ultimately spawned his campaign slogan, "Country First"). Having been a POW is not just a check mark on his resume or a ticket to a reliable national constituency of veterans. It's his chief qualification for the presidency, not to mention his best retort whenever he's cornered.

But the sad truth is that the Vietnam war has not given its generation a straight bounce in 40 years, and McCain calling supporters his "fellow prisoners" really brings that weirdness home. It suggests that the Arizona senator sees the next three weeks of the campaign as more time in the Hanoi Hilton for him and the Republican party: They will be buffeted and beaten, but if they hold their heads high and refuse an early release, they will be able to come home and marry a beer heiress.

If only.

When he left the post-debate meet-and-greet early, McCain seemed to know in his heart of hearts that he'd lost, not just the debate, but the election. Why else abandon the stage and the cameras to Barack and Michelle? Still, at least through Nov. 3, he has to go back out on the stump. And out there he's a prisoner of his party's ideology (and of Steve Schmidt, Karl Rove, and that awful moose-skinner who's angling for his place on the ticket), forced to mouth slurs and phony policy proposals that demean the straight-talking character that once made him so popular with independents. That ought to make anyone angry, and McCain seems barely able to contain his rage.

It's not as if the crowd can't see that savage repression. All those folks screaming "Kill him!" and "Treason!" and "Terrorist!"--they want McCain to let loose his demons. They want the warrior to slash and burn, they want him to take no prisoners.

They have no idea that John McCain is his own worst prisoner. And jailer too.

Clearly, McCain is losing his mind. He is slipping, bit by bit...

into dementia. At the beginning of the campaign he repeatedly mispoke, confusiong Iran and Iraq. If you look carefully at this latest faux pas, you will see that there is absolutely no reason for him to confuse the word "prisoner" with "Americans." Most "freudian slips" are between words that sound alike or are used in similar contexts. The substitution of "prisoner" is totally without context nor is there a sound similarity with any word he might reasonably have been expected to confuse. This verbal gaffe along with his other ones looks very much like the mental wanderings of someone ambling into alzheimer's or suffering from some kind of progressive dementia. Perhaps, his cancer has reached the brain. Do any of us want a president who is slowly becoming psychotic and is a war hawk to boot? It doesn't get much scarier than this.

Ohhh, now you tell me! I thought "country first" reflected their taste in music! Unfortunately, no amount of proof of corruption, felonious behavior, adultery, drug or alcohol addictions, lying or any other form of turpitude is enough to dissuade the radical Republican redneck religious right from its support of those who have brought us to such a low estate economically, environmentally, militarily, constitutionally, internationally or domestically. The stupider the candidate, from Reagan onwards, the more they love him or her. The more anti-scientific, superstitious, ignorant and devious, the better.

Since he did Include 'Fellow' we must assume he means He Too is a Prisoner- But Who's? I'd Guess Cheney Corp..Except Mac has been fucking this country (In his own 'Mavericky Way' -Keating to Phil Gramm) for at least as long as he's been in Public Office. So perhaps he was able to retain the Pavlovian word 'Fellow' before his Mouth exposed His True Intentions.
So which is It Mac..Are we already prisoners or is that Your Mission to Accomplish?

He knows that martial law will be declared shortly, and let slip that many of us will be incarcerated.

The chemicals with which the government has been spraying us from the sky in those criss-cross patterns are making most of us fat, and the aliens who control our government leaders have forced them to do this and will eventually round us up and put us in those many empty prison camps. McCain knows this and was trying to warn us that we will be dinner soon.

The war on terror is a LIE. We cannot win a war against terorism because WAR IS TERROR. I think the Republicans are moral idiots. The only thing that can save us now is the quick return of Jesus Christ of Nazareth to redeem the earth from the workers of iniquity; or as we like to call them, the GOP. May the Lord of Truth and Love deliver these liars, thieves and murderers to their just reward. Don't believe anything any Republican has to say, all they do is LIE LIE and LIE some more. The devil is the Father of lies, so it is abundantly clear that these Republicans are not Christian in any shape or form:no kindness or humility, no compassion on those who have less than them, no wisdom just selfish stupidity, no truth but an unending series of lies, and the american lifestyle is not worth the death of even one Iraqi child, much less the hundreds of thousands Bush has massacred. All child killers like the Bush/Cheney cabal have the heaviest dues to pay when they stand before the true and living God on Judgement Day(yes, it's real)and try to justify the murder of children in order to increase their own wealth and power. Do they not know that no murderer inherits eternal life and that all liars are consigned to eternal damnation? The Republicans will lead us to our deaths, and everything they are doing to this country and its people, is right on schedule. Next will come martial law and a countrywide lockdown. Of course, some Americans, used to being free, will not go quietly into that dark night. Hence, the need for an armed combat brigade policing the American homeland that is fresh from their combat experience of rousting Iraqis out of their homes in the middle of the night: warrantless searches, renditions, inprisonment(camptown USA anyone?), torture and finally extermination. The Republicans are antichrist and wholly demonic in intent and execution of their plan for non-republican America, land of the free, home of the....well, whatever!
