A Note to Bill Clinton: An Obama Loss Will Be on Your Head

Posted by Paul Slansky, Huffington Post at 10:02 AM on September 25, 2008.

Given that we would never have had the odious George W. Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn't for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore would never have started, and to all the parents whose kids would be killed in the WarFest that would be a McCain/Palin -- sorry, Palin/McCain -- administration to do everything in your power to get Barack Obama elected.

But that's not what you're doing, Bill, and it's not going unnoticed. We see your rage, Bill, it's too huge to hide. We see that -- as Chris Rock so brilliantly pointed out -- it pains you to even speak Obama's name. We see you petulantly rooting against him even as you go through the motions of doing the barest minimum on his behalf to avoid being blamed if he loses.

You're not fooling anyone, Bill. You've gotten so caught up in yesterday that you've stopped thinking about tomorrow. You have the power to influence millions of voters and you're spitefully sitting on it. Surely you've noticed what's going on in the country. Surely you're aware of what's at stake on November 4th. This is not a game that you can afford to take your ball and go home with if you don't get to play the position you want. An Obama loss will most certainly be part of your legacy.

There's still time to fix it.

How about this for an October surprise? Bill Clinton gets on the road and spends every day until the election sincerely and wholeheartedly communicating the urgency of electing Obama. You're the greatest politician of your generation, Bill. Surely you can fake enthusiasm for a month.

Oh, and stop talking about how much you like Senator McCain. Have you forgotten the vile joke he told a decade ago at your wife's and daughter's expense? Let me remind you: "Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? She's the child of Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton." Are you saying, Bill, that you can forgive McCain for calling Chelsea "ugly" but you can't forgive Obama for defeating Hillary?

If Obama loses a close election -- one in which even one state where you could have made a difference goes for McCain because you sat home and pouted -- it will be on you. We will remember that you couldn't be bothered to rise above your petty resentments for something as trivial as saving your country from the enemies of everything you profess to believe in. We forgave you for Monica, Bill, but we won't forgive you for this.

...but back to reality, it was in fact the American people that decided such a small offense, perpetrated by men AND women everywhere, was going to be so conclusive! Funny how Americans impeached Clinton for that, but don't have the guts to impeach Bush for infinitely larger transgressions...

It was the Clinton campaign that gave the GOP the amunition on the Obama as "elitist" charge. They also were the ones to tap into the racial fears of working-class whites. I've heard less about Obama as Muslim or about Rev. Wright during the general election than I did during the Democratic primary season. The Clintons chose Rovian tactics and McCain has had to do little to create these naratives. He just picked up where Bill and Hillary left off.

WTF does bubba have to do with anything?

Granted I don't watch the MSM at all so I have no idea what's going on in 'Merkaaner fantasy land these days but I am kinda happy not to hear or see bubba anywhere on any topic. I have as much patience for a neoliberal owning class fuckhead as I have for neocon owning class fuckheads. Bottom line, too much money a criminal makes...

He got a blowjob? From some chick named Monica? How nice... move along nothing more to see here....

The Clintons know that a politician can:

"Damn with faint praise, assent with civil leer,
And, without sneering, teach the rest to sneer."

Hillary has plans for 2012.

You've got to be kidding! Bill actually was on the trail helping to get Obama elected. Let me refresh your memory...Some weeks later, they had a sit down at Clinton's office, afterwhich Obama decided not to take any of Bill's advice and actually snubbed the former president. Then both Obama and his wife Michelle snubbed Hillary when she tried to call to congratulate him after he accepted the democratic nomination! Why should he campaign for him? I wouldn't if it were me. If Obama doesn't get elected it's his own fault...It will have nothing to do with either of the Clinton's! Hillary 2012!!!!!!

Wow, Paul, great article--I am so pissed at Clinton, I posted an adapted picture of him inspired from the movie, The Grudge--Clinton playing Kayako Saeki's role--on a website about the bogus bailout bullshit, symbolizing worthless shit taxpayers are expected to buy.

Obama could do his part 2

Its true that Bill should be a LOT more vigorous in his support of Obama. But Obama has failed to do his part in this, and that's a shame. Obama missed an opportunity right at the beginning when Hillary credited LBJ for signing the voting and civil rights acts of the 1960's. What he SHOULD have said:

"Hillary's right. It did take a president to make civil rights happen. And that's why I'm running for president. So that I'll have not just the power of persuasion, but the power of the presidency to do the right thing for the american people, like LBJ did."

And he might have added:

"And you know in signing those bills, Johnson knew that he would pay a political price, not just for himself but for his party. He said it: "I've given the south to the republicans for a generation". Turned out to be more like two generations (and counting). So for Dr. King, those bills were pure victory, but for Johnson they had to be a bittersweet sacrifice, one he was willing to make because he knew it was the right thing to do.

And who made it? A white politician, A white SOUTHERN politician. And in that same great tradition of southern white politicians who buck their culture stands Bill Clinton, a president who did as much for African Americans as any president since Johnson, and who made the political sacrifices he had to because he saw it was the right thing to do."

If Obama had said that, he'd have Bill on board all the way. If he had said that, he'd have more white voter support. It would have been smart. It would have been generous. It would have been politically beneficial. And it would have been TRUE.

So, let's see Obama be big enough to credit white politicians who've taken political hits to support minority rights.

You, Bill Clinton, are not pissed off because Hillary lost the Primary. You are pissed off that you won't get to play politics behind the scenes.
We all Love and Respect Hillary. But whats fair is fair.
We all Loved and respected you, too. But now you are losing that love and respect for the dirty little games you are playing. It won't hurt just the entire country and maybe the world, it will hurt Hillary, too. Grow up, Bill. It is time that you truly help your country(and your family) now!!

Let's all be on the same team here.
You, too....Slick Willie.
A heavy pro-Obama push by BOTH Clintons will seal this campaign.
Forget 2012, Slick. She LOST.
Obama is the party choice.
He beat you fair and square.
Unite and life will be good again, like it was in the 90's.
Hillary and you can help. You were the best. Keep the ball rolling.
