New Petition Backs Up Pelosi's Position on Superdelegates

Today, OpenLeft.com and MoveOn.org are co-sponsoring a new petition to Nancy Pelosi, supporting her position on superdelegates and telling her that we'll back her up when she is threatened.

Matt noted yesterday a letter that 20 major donors and raisers to Hillary and other Democratic Party causes sent to Pelosi, upbraiding her for saying that voters ought to actually determine the election. Now, I don't think there is anything wrong with donors stating their opinion about this issue, and I don't blame them for doing it. I'm sure that the Clinton campaign asked them to send the letter, and they are loyal partisans for Hillary, so they did what they were asked to do.

But I also think that the millions of us who are smaller donors to this party, who give through MoveOn.org and blogs and ActBlue, should have an equal voice on the important issues with the big dog donors, and we believe that the candidate who wins this election ought to be given the nomination.

If the donors and raisers who signed this letter plan to take their money away from the DCCC, that would be a terrible thing, and if that's what they are implying with this letter, shame on them and on the Clinton campaign for encouraging that kind of threat. But, if they do take their money away, I believe those of us signing this petition can more than make up the difference through our collective efforts. More importantly, it will be up to us to make sure that the actions of a few do not change the course that Speaker Pelosi and our House members have been fighting for.

Please sign the petition here.

Stay strong! Do not let the Clintons and their supporters bully you, or any one else, into changing your position. And especially please do not let the will of the people be subverted.
WE NEED CHANGE! And that change will not come by yet another politician trying to steal an election.
The money will keep flowing, Nancy. Maybe not in large sums by a few select elites, but rather in small sums by millions of grassroots Democtrats who want to see this country strong again.

"All Super Delegates have to vote according to how their Constituents voted"

The states of Mass., Ohio and Calif. all voted for Hillary! So all Super-Delegates from those states should vote for Hillary. Right??

According to an article by Marie Cocco, from the Washington Post, according to that method, Hillary wins! Because she won all the Big Blue states! Hillary has won more Electorial College votes, as well. Her lead gets even bigger if you leave out all the little red states that Democrates haven't carried since in the 60's, and have little or no chance of winning in 08'.

You really sure you want to do it this way??

CHANGE?????

There is NO--repeat after me, NO--Administration MORE DIFFERENT from any Bush administration, than the Administration of Bill Clinton. I hear the (probably) Rove-inspired mumblings--mostly from people who were kids during Clinton #1--"Clinton/Bush/Clinton" TIME FOR A CHANGE...

You have GOT to be kidding. The mantra that swept Bill Clinton into office in 1992 was: "It's the ECONOMY, STUPID!" That, after Bush #1 lost the first Gulf War (Kuwait) and put the economy in the toilet.

And Clinton gave the United States the greatest job expansion that this country has ever seen, since the end of WWII. He balanced the budget, fought the NeoCONS to a standstill to do it--and left America with a billion+dollar Budget Surplus.

When I went to get a Big Mac at lunchtime, I was given a job application. Same if i went to Mickey D's. We used to laugh at those job applications, me and my co-workers--last month i saw one of them at a Mickey D in Oklahoma (we live in TX) and he was sweating his next month's 'evaluation'.

Job evaluation--at McDonald's??? Hot damn, not during a Clinton Administration!

I don't know how Karl Rove did it, but he did. He's played Divide&Conquer one more time, and played it like the master that he is. The man must've cut his teeth on Machiavelli, because here's what Rove started out with when he "left" the White House in 2007: An economy in a worse toilet than even Bush's father left America with. An unjust and therefore unpopular war that does nothing for Americans and everything for Exxon-Mobil. A mortgage "crisis" manufactured by Bush Buds Countrywide, etc, that has people living on the streets, and finally, a rage sweeping through this country whenever the word "Republican" is mentioned. He was looking at two--not one but TWO, fabled Democrats--Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama--who would, between them, guarantee America 16 progressive, wealth-&-Middle-Class-rebuilding, prosperous years. And now?

Now we have Democrats who, seeing all their hopes and dreams for the future slipping away from the intransigence of their party, saying Hell No, I'll vote for McCain if these bastards give us a before-November unknown like Barack Obama, instead of the logical Hillary--with Barack as her VP--Oh MAN!

Karl, you did it again. I take off my hat. You have Alternet acting like the MSM, kissing the newbie's ass, scornfully relegating the natural Dem candidate to the background and if they deign to notice her at all, to vilify her. Wow, Karl, how'd you pull THAT one off?! Turning Alternet--into the MSM??? Holy crap, just tell the rest of us how the hell you got that done...Penn & Teller will sit at your feet if you, Karl, will just tell everyone how you managed to destroy the Democratic party in four short months since last November. WOW.

Robbing To Pay

Don't allow them to rob the populace of the their vote in order to pay the coffers.

That was what the 1968 DNC protests were all about. Although Humphrey hadn't won one single Primary, he was to be selected as the candidate. The DNC didn't care about any of the Primary votes and basically snubbed them.

Suggest Federal Election Reform,

and see how far you get with either party!

This antiquated, win-take-all(the whole state) system disenfranchizes, well over half the voters in the country, at every election!

and actually if the count was done like the Nov. election, winner takes all, she'd be ahead!

Now if you want to Reform the Entire Election Process, can I suggest joining the Green Party! The Dems/Repugs aren't going to do it!
They like this convoluted system, that allows for 'stealing' and disenfranchizes over half the voters in this country! (Every Dem. that votes in Geogia, knows IT won't count)

With Instant Run-Off elections, you get to pick a first choice and a second, the Winner has to get over the 50% threshold!

Where's the Dem. or Repug. Party Platforms? What do 'they' (the parties) actually stand for? Who do they represent? What changes do ALL their candidates support?? With more open, diverse, elections they might have to say!

Impeach Pelosi

Considering the shoddy leadership from Nancy Pelosi, I wouldn't sign diddly squat to support that old bag of hot air.

She needs to do the job she was elected to and to keep her long greedy, republican-like nose out of the election.

If she really wanted to help she should have spoken up when the DNC decided to enforce their inane rules for the first time ever and threw out the votes of Florida & Michigan.

Now she's an Obama girl and she feels the need to stick her nose into something that is none of her damn business. Wonder when we will see her on You Tube, wiggling in a bikini and singing his praises.

If Obama really wanted "The People" to decide this election he would not be continously trying to keep all the votes from being counted.

How many people know that this whole fight is over a 6 day period of time, (Feb 5 instead of Jan 29)? Common sense would tell most people that even if those primaries had been delayed until Feb 5th the Rev. Obama would have still lost in those two states. He knows that he will probably lose in them again if a re-vote is done.

What the hell are you afraid of? Count our damn votes same as everyone else.

Senator Clinton is a trip! She wants to change the rules as you go depending on convenience. I've lost a lot of respect for her as a politician. She and her supporters know darn well that if Clinton had rattled off 10 consective primary victories there would have been serious pressure for Senator Obama to fold up his tent. You know it!!

Every step of the way recently she has been trying to underestimate(which got her in her situation now), undervalue and marginalize Senator Obama.

Support Pelosi on Anything? Ya Gotta Be Kidding!!

After failing to motivate the house to cut off funding for the American Imperial Adventure in Iraq (they didn't have to write bills with funding in 'em!!) and for failing to move impeachment onto the table my bet's with Cindy who'll do both if elected.

As Cindy pointed out:

"Yesterday we reached another sad milestone: 4,000 US troops have now been killed in Iraq. In a statement released today Nancy Pelosi had the audacity to say that this was a "a grim reminder of the enormous cost of war in Iraq; the human cost."

Despite Pelosi's attempts to claim innocence and outrage, it's clear that while she is pointing her finger at the President with one hand, she is shaking Bush's hand with the other: in the 15 months since Nancy Pelosi has become Speaker of House over $200,000 BILLION dollars have been approved to continue the massacre of troops and civilians in Iraq - even though the majority of Americans want war funding cut."

The Democratic Party is as corrupt and untrustworthy as the Repugs. While it still has a few worthy people who, for whatever reason, continue to hang in there (Kucinich for one), it's a dinosaur.

Pelosi will get my support once she begins to fulfill her campaign promises and behave like a populist leader we'd expect from a truly democratic (small 'd' intentional) party.

'Till then... pass.

Support an Anti-American! Great Article!
Breaking from Newsmax.com
Unconvinced by Obama’s Wright Speech
Barack Obama’s speech last week addressing his 20-year relationship with his radical pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, was very well done, yet unconvincing.
Obama sought to explain that relationship and why he could not end this close association, despite the minister's hate-filled rhetoric. He said, “There will no doubt be those for whom my statements of condemnation are not enough. Why associate myself with Rev. Wright in the first place, they may ask? Why not join another church?”
Yes, those are the questions that people are asking.
Many of Rev. Wright’s incendiary statements are on videos sold by his church. Minister Louis Farrakhan, a friend of Rev. Wright with whom he traveled to visit Muammar Qadaffi in Libya, also makes his sermons and those of others associated with the Nation of Islam available for sale. Their attacks on the U.S. and Israel often coincide with those of Rev. Wright
Rev. Wright’s sermons charge that the U.S. government gives African-Americans drugs, created AIDS, and is deliberately infecting blacks with that disease. His sermons claim that the U.S. unjustifiably nuclear bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II, and that 9/11 and the deaths of 3,000 Americans were caused by U.S. foreign policy.
He alleges Israeli state terrorism against the Palestinians; calling Israel a “dirty word” and “racist country.” He blames Israel for 9/11 and supports the divestment campaign against it, denouncing “Zionism.” His venomous thoughts are summed up in his most discussed sermon in which he says the U.S. government “wants us to sing God Bless America. No, no, not God Bless America. God damn America. God damn America for killing innocent people.”
Sen. Obama in his speech acknowledged that the rantings of his minister are “inexcusable,” but stated, “I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother — a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.”
Before we discuss his grandmother, let’s examine the impact of Rev. Wright’s statements on the senator’s two daughters. Nothing says it better than a song from the musical “South Pacific,” to wit, “You have to be taught to hate and fear…You’ve got to be carefully taught.” Few dispute that Rev. Wright’s sermons are filled with hate. Why didn’t Obama stand up in the church and denounce his hateful statements or, at the very least, argue privately with his minister? It was horrifying to see on a video now viewed across America the congregation rise from the pews to applaud their minister’s rants.
To be continued..... next Sorry to say...

very much, your work really has not had very possitive ratings, and I am afraid you really have put women in an awkward position...
Very disappointing when you do not know that Obama is an Anti-American supporter for Twenty Years!!! How can you possible take a stance without considering this.. Are you deaf? or you just don't care? maybe the latter!
Well let me tell you that if Hillary is not the nominee there will be millions voting for McCain including me.... McCain is certainly not Bush and guess what I would rather have a man that loves his country than a man that supports a Radical Anti-American, who says God "D" America and associates himself with the likes of Wright, Farrakhan, and rezco.
Someone that supports people that go talk to our enemies, no wonder he said he wanted to go himself and talk to all our enemies....WE don't know Obama, all we know is that he has made Wright an Anti-American his Mentor of Twenty Years.... Call it Bad Judgement or call it dangerous...whatever you call it it is not good for our Country!!!
