As Max Blumenthal reported back in February, porn star Stormy Daniels of has been considering a run against Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter in 2010. Despite Vitter's tendency to herald conservative "values," the Senator drew some unwanted national attention in 2007 when his phone number was found in the records of a notorious D.C. madam. Daniels, urged on by fans, went on a listening tour earlier this month and spoke with MSNBC about her plans:

Well, yesterday brought us one step closer to one heck of an interesting primary in Louisiana. Stormy Daniels sent out the following press release, announcing the formation of an official exploratory committee:

Today, I am excited to announce that I am taking the next step in exploring a possible run for United States Senate. Two weeks ago, I embarked on a listening tour where I had the pleasure of hearing the thoughts and concerns of my fellow Louisianans. These conversations were highly encouraging and convinced me to officially explore the possibility of running for the United States Senate. To this end, I have formed an exploratory committee to gauge Louisianans' support for my potential candidacy.

I do not take this step lightly. While I have been humbled by the overwhelmingly positive response my potential candidacy has generated thus far, my decision to run for United States Senate will only be made after I have had the opportunity to discuss this prospect with as many people across the state as possible. Too many in government ignore the voices of those whom they claim to represent. I promise you that I will not.

Forming this committee will allow me to raise the funds necessary to explore a possible run and will provide Louisianans an opportunity to continue sharing with me their concerns and ideas. I invite you to visit www.teamstormy.com and join me in taking this next important step.

In the coming months I will continue my listening tour and am eager to visit western and northern Louisiana. I look forward to discussing further the vital priorities facing our state and nation-including reforming the tax code to a system that rewards, rather than penalizes, success, protecting our children and promoting personal responsibility as an alternative to government intrusion.

A porn star ran for the Italian Parliament. She won. Evita Peron, a taxi dancer, became President of Argentina.

I hope Dick Cheney rushes to Vitter's defense. Cheney is not afraid to use the f-word on the floor of the Senate, and Daniels is not afraid to debate the issue, although Vitter wants to keep a low profile.

Daniels as a Republican? They've always been... Gives the Party a new image.

This woman has been explored so many times that there is nothing left...

Who cares if she wins or loses.

Louisiana is a Third World Country anyway.

I know because I grew up there and could hardly wait to LEAVE!

The Mafia stole all of their resources a long time ago anyway.

Minnesota had a former wrestler as governor and
will have a former comedian as Senator when Al
Franken is finally seated, so why not a former
porn star? It will give a whole new meaning to
"public service."

My 1st thought was "what the f**k is she a Republican for??" The Republicans have screwed this country for years. I wondered what she had up her butt and wondered what was going to come out of her throat. I thought "O, cum on, this is perfect". It is good that she is running as a Republican. They need to have someone like Stormy represent them whether they like it or not and not act like a bunch of tight asses. She seems pretty likeable and is going to help the Democratic Party by being a Republican at the same time.

And you call David Vitter a BlowHard? Ironic! Perfect symbol for the "progressives". Seems like a nice lady though, and her "platform" (pun) to protect our children does not seem to be in line with the "non-judgmental sexual behavior" ideology of the far left.

A great fit with the 30 year serial adulterer-liar Klinton, the liar and sleazy Obama and cold cash Jefferson, the thief. Never mention the fixers and nepotistic models Reid and Biden...the fraud Pelosi who left wages low for her workers...plus the real winner...the killer and adulterer who left a gal in 4 feet of water to drown while he spent hours on the phone trying to fix things...which he did...

Regardless of her former profession she is not a hypocrite like so many other Republicans. In fact I find her to be more ethical and moral than any of the current Republican members of Congress by a long shot. She may have aroused certain male hormones in a past life but she didn't lie, cheat, steal and bear false witness as every other GOP member has done at least once if not many times.
