Law enforcement LOVES surveillance cameras -- except when those cameras are used to surveil dodgy busts and get them overturned:

Last year, New York police officers were seen dancing in the streets just before arresting four men in a city nightclub on charges of selling $100 worth of cocaine. It took six months and the men's life savings, but their names were finally cleared when prosecutors took the unusual step of announcing in court that the men had committed no crime.

That's because club surveillance video shows that the undercover cops had no contact with the accused men in the two hours they were in the club.

Now, club owner Eduardo Espinoza says the police are retaliating against him.

Seems the same surveillance equipment designed to catch us all doing God knows what is catching those who are NOT supposed to be caught. Bummer! It's called unintended consequences. Maybe we have to be content to sacrifice privacy for a greater purpose. The police behavior in particular is apalling. It's time they were reined in. It certainly is a sippery slope. Thanks, ANNA

This is why the cameras should NEVER be in police control. If this were Cop-Cam, guaranteed that the evidence would have been "mysteriously lost". I'm really of mixed opinion on this camera stuff. I wish some good writer would cover this issue in better detail on Alternet so we can all discuss it here. Is it really "Orwellian" to have cameras around that document *the truth* whatever that truth turns out to be? I don't really know.

He could have ended up like Patrick Dorismond, dead on the street when he punched an undercover cop who kept asking him for dope. Oh and our newest statesman, Rudy G. revealed Mr. Dorismond's esponged juvenile record illegally, in an effort to justify cold blooded murder.

Nothing new here....cops manufacturing evidence and arrests. The police who made the charges should be jailed for false arrest and fraud. I for one am against video cams everywhere. It seems that cell phones with 30 second video and photo capability do a pretty good job of documenting a lot of stuff. And if this business establishment can adequately document the harrassment, again there should be strong penalties against the police department!

This is why I am the Nightstallion: I believe if cops get to kick the shit out of Civilians, illegal aliens and Teenybobers then the Civilians, illegal aliens and Teenybopers get to kick the shit out of the cops. Innocence is not the point people VIOLENCE is the point! The Cops don't want any shit; then let them not start any shit.

No dodging here! No obfuscation here. If cops are doing violence to civilians INNOCENT OR NOT! Then violence is being done, simple direct, obvious past the point of pain! Kick their ass bloody and send them back to their Cop shops with NO doughnuts!

When I was a child I was not afraid to ask a Policeman for help directions aid or assistance of any kind! Now if you or I do that we could wind up on some suspect list or carged with resisting arrest if they don't particularly like our looks. THE GODDAMNED JUDGES WILL SUPPORT THE POLICE AND VICEY VERSY DON'T YOU KNOW!? IF (God help you) you defend yourself you will be charged with striking an officer!

No folks we are way past the point of not being in Kansas and are down the road into Black Fascism about a hundred miles. The America I was born into is dead. The America the Viet Nam Veterans thought they were going to war for never existed. And you poor beknighted souls are living in a la la land where the entire populace is controled like a line of Chorus girls tromping on the stage like a headless millipede.
