Anita Hill on Clarence Thomas: "I Will Not Stand By Silently and Allow Him to Reinvent Me"

Posted by Oliver Willis at 1:00 PM on October 2, 2007.

Oliver Willis: Hill stands by her 1991 testimony and Eugene Robinson explains just how dumb Justice Thomas is.

This post, written by Oliver Willis, originally appeared on Like Kryptonite to Stupid

Eugene Robinson hits the nail so hard on the head about just how dumb Clarence Thomas is.

There are, as he ought to know, plenty of black conservatives. There are plenty of African American parents teaching their children the same lessons of hard work and self-reliance that Thomas's grandfather taught him. The black church, I would argue, is one of the more socially conservative major institutions in the nation.

Black America has never been monolithic in its views, but black Americans do vote almost monolithically for Democrats. That wouldn't necessarily be the case if Richard Nixon hadn't built an electoral strategy on a race-based appeal to Southern whites -- and if every Republican presidential candidate and party leader since Nixon hadn't followed suit. Just last week, the four leading contenders for the Republican nomination all skipped a forum at historically black Morgan State University. As long as snubbing black voters is seen as smart politics in the Republican Party, black conservatives have good reason to stick with the Democrats.

Robinson goes on to explain why, until the cows come home, black conservatives like Clarence Thomas will be known as the self-loathers they are.

UPDATE: Professor Anita Hill, the woman that this... troll... sexually harassed has written an op-ed in the NY Times to counter his slander of her in his book pimping tour.

ON Oct. 11, 1991, I testified about my experience as an employee of Clarence Thomas' at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

I stand by my testimony.

Justice Thomas has every right to present himself as he wishes in his new memoir, "My Grandfather's Son." He may even be entitled to feel abused by the confirmation process that led to his appointment to the Supreme Court.

But I will not stand by silently and allow him, in his anger, to reinvent me.

In the portion of his book that addresses my role in the Senate hearings into his nomination, Justice Thomas offers a litany of unsubstantiated representations and outright smears that Republican senators made about me when I testified before the Judiciary Committee -- that I was a "combative left-winger" who was "touchy" and prone to overreacting to "slights." A number of independent authors have shown those attacks to be baseless. What's more, their reports draw on the experiences of others who were familiar with Mr. Thomas's behavior, and who came forward after the hearings. It's no longer my word against his.

See, people. This is why the Supreme Court is more than Roe v. Wade. It's about getting good, decent people on the highest court in the land, and not absolute filth like Clarence Thomas whose odor wafts from every case he gets his grubby little paws on.

Digg!

I saw most of the Thomas interview on Sunday. He is nothing more than a malcontent. He dwells in his "crappy childhood" time warp and refuses to budge. He's a Supreme Court Justice. For a mediocre guy, what the hell did he expect. In some circles this is considered a good job, especially considering his lack of credentials. Strange, why did he wait so long. He was nuts when he was confirmed and I guess he still is. Thanks, ANNA

I thought only Jews could be "self-loathing". David Duke will be glad that stereotypes

and terms of disparagement, like "self-loathing", can be applied to blacks also. I'm sure that Mr.Duke was becoming quite concerned that the usual stereotypes and epithets used for blacks were becoming scarce in modern media. I'm glad we were able to transfer the stereotype of the "self-loathing jew" to the blacks. We need to keep them both down by whatever means necessary and ensure that we associate them only with one political movement, belief structure, and attitudes. They can be NO variances within the black race lest we begin to think of them as individuals or, heaven forbid, as people!

Thomas is but one of many blacks who managed to be in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the rare opportunity to crash the white man's school/world. He is marginally intelligent and somewhere along the way in that fancy school they allowed him to enter, he read Ayn Rand's philosophy which guides so many of his fellow ne-cons like Leo Straus, Milton Friedman and Alan Greenspan, and which holds that there is no higher virtue than looking out for yourself. He figured this was a good way to erase some of his blackness and perhaps even join that select jewish cabal masquerading as intelligensia. He is a mediocrity and forever destined to remain one. His tenure on the court will be remembered as one long list of "me too's" appended to the decisions of his colleagues. It is doubtful that he's ever had an original thought unless it involved some imaginative method of displaying pubic hairs.
Do us all a favor Thomas and quietly crawl back under your rock with your book. Your presence on the court is a constant reminder of how low the Republicans will stoop to pander to blacks or get a stooge to stack the court in their favor as they rearrange Amerika for jeeeeeezussss-ahh!

I just read the article that Ms Anita Hill had written to defend herself against the allegations by the alleged supreme court member, who in interviews has stated that he was a victim of a leftwing lynching. Bullshit! According to a Mr. David Brock (magazine-newspaper reporter) who was the front man on trying to destroy Ms. Hill's reputation (a former conservative) he did everything he could to destroy her. He further used inside information from Clarence to blackmail a corroborating witness that knew Clarence is a porn freak. He has now seen the light that lying is truly a sin and has even apologized for the attacks he made against the Clintons. I guess Mr. Brock was afraid for his soul since he did not mention a personal contract with the devil. Unlike those who have that include, Ronnie Regan, the entire Bush family, Karly Rove (who has been seen in drag more than once in local DC gay bars), Pauly (Wolfshit) Wolfulwitz, Donny Rumsey, and of course that big time loser who sold his soul for the price of being an asshole, Dickey (the coward-or Mr. Deferment) Cheney and his double butt ugly wife.
