Hillary Clinton Confirmed As Secretary Of State

I hope she'll be able to do some good in repairing America's damaged reputation, and the source of that damaged reputation, America's foreign policy.

I would have preferred her for a domestic slot like health, but it's still amusing to see Clinton confirmed with only 2 votes against (Vitter and Demint), if only to keep janitors employed cleaning up after wingnut head explosions for the duration of her stay at Foggy Bottom.  (Hey it's nasty work, but it's work).

Clinton's got a lot of name recognition and is generally (but not universally) liked overseas.  Her husband is, likewise, still very popular.  Added to the goodwill Obama starts with, I hope she'll be able to do some good in repairing America's damaged reputation, and the source of that damaged reputation, America's foreign policy.

Digg!

Diplomatic? She Threatened to Drop Nuclear Bombs on Iran

I suppose if you want a Secretary of State which has many nations friggin' TERRIFIED of Hillary Clinton, then we've got a good person in that office. But would you call it "diplomacy" when she was campaigning for President and she engaged in sabre rattling, threatening to drop nuclear bombs on Iran and obliterate them?

I don't believe American should consider certain nations our "enemies" - however, any nation which is perceived of being our "enemy" is friggin' terrified or Hillary.

Hillary reminds me a great deal of Margaret Thatcher - female macho - with all the worst qualities of empirilist men.

Hillary Clinton is absolutely NOT a progressive, she is a Conservative Democrat who completely abandoned any semblence of supporting the concerns of working class people. Way back maybe 20 years ago - the Clintons were progressive - but Hillary's biggest campaign donors PAC money was from pharmaceutical corporations, defense/military contractors - in fact she raised more money from those two types of corporations than anyone in the entire history of the Senate.

Hillary also illegally pushed through CAFTA with her close buddy John McCain. Hillary's politics are closer to McCain than they are to anything resembling a progressive platform.

Insofar as alleging Hillary is a "feminist", her husband is a sexual predator who tried to sexually assault several women - granted 95% of the thousands of women Bill Clinton committed adultery with were groupies who threw themselves at him. But there are many women Bill Clinton tried to force himself on sexually. A woman who is a "feminist" does not enable, defend and protect a husband who is a sexual predator.

I want a woman Secretary of State - but not THAT woman. Although, I do acknolwedge Hillary is far more qualified than Obama to be President - but I think she is completely immoral - or is that amoral? It's a toss up.

Obama is more ethical than Hillary - but only because he is only 47 and the Clintons are early 60's and late 50's. Obama hasn't been around Washington long enough to be totally corrupted - but just give him time.
