The so called Church of Mr Phelps has roughly 100 members of which some 80 % are his kin, according to the link he has 13 children and 54 grandchildren.

What is the issue? One lone crazy? Why is Mr Phelps so in the media eye? His congregation and himself is totaly insignificant.

I as a Swede see these denounciations both in Sweden and on these pages but come on 100 members? He is a kook and that all it is. Or is there at different agenda that I do not see?

Those people don't read very far around their preferred verse in the Bible, or they would sell their daughters into servitude and bring bulls into the church and cut their throats for sacrifice. The edict is so ancient that we can almost imagine the deity trying to increase the Hebrew population by directing the sperm flow away from other men and into the womb. Homosexuality is a great form of birth control.

Wow! It felt so good, I am embarrassed to admit, to hear a Christian speak honestly about the God(s) of the Bible. When Pastor Phelp's daughter said that God is the most intolerant being, I almost cheered from release of the frustration of having to hear all the "God is love" propaganda ubiquitously displayed throughout America on t-shirts, bumper stickers, church marquees, etc.

Jesus made it clear that one must accept his teachings, his beliefs, his ethics, his morality, his Weltanschauung or face an eternity of unrelenting torture. Think about that for a moment. Most of us have experienced some level of physical suffering that lasted long enough for there to be a degree of habituation. Jesus was creative enough to describe a situation where those who rejected him would know no degree of relief.

Although I abhor their message, I applaud their honesty. The (un-)Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, paints a terrifying portrait of a world where absolute, theocratic domination is the highest good.

As Homer (Simpson, not of Iliad/Odyssey fame) so eloquently said: (When speaking of the Bible) "This thing has no answers!" and "Praise Jeebus!"

If somenoe named Yeshua (jesus) didn't exist as a radical, self-styled rabbi, another name of another holy man would've been made up. "For every age and every danger, a hero appears to set things aright". This is an approximation of a passage from the Bagivad Gita, a Hindu holy book. It was jesus a couple thousand years ago. The next one may be walking around even now.. When enough time has elapsed after the death of that person, the story will begin and grow with the telling. It'll be used by scoundrels as a means to extort gullible people for material gain and control. A relatively harmless version of this was the semi-deification of George Washington in songs and embroidered "history" during my grade school days.

Same old crap, if preaching the truth of the christian bible don't bring in the sheep then preaching love will. They are all after the same thing,, follow the money,which everyone supports even the hard core atheists pay for this crap with all the vouchers and their tax exemptions.I would support some of the old gods , where have all the old gods gone? Look how many gods we used to have, who got rid of them and why ? Oh well , only one god left, think god!
