The Consequences If Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Stuff a Sock in It

Posted by Trish , Pensito Review at 11:27 AM on March 25, 2008.

The New Republic's Norm Scheiber all but says it: Hillary needs to get out.

The New Republic’s Norm Scheiber sums up the current state of the election.

The problem is that each day Clinton and Obama spend consumed with the other is a day that moves John McCain closer to the White House. McCain’s biggest asset is his political brand, which evokes a straight-talking, party-bucking reformer. Among his biggest liabilities is the suspicion he inspires among conservatives thanks to these same attributes. McCain apparently plans to spend the next few months making nice with his base. But anything he accomplishes on this front clearly diminishes his swing-voter appeal and, therefore, his chances in November.

Ideally, the Democrats would be exploiting this tension like mad…
Instead, something close to the opposite is happening. McCain’s courtship of the lunatic right and his ties to K Street have largely been hidden from view, while the Democrats’ dirty laundry has been aired for swing voters.
…On March 12, Ferraro and the racially polarized Mississippi primary were A-1 news in The Washington Post. It wasn’t until page A-6 that you stumbled across a story about McCain’s ties to the parent company of Airbus, the Boeing rival to whom the Pentagon recently handed a lucrative contract. The second story could have muddied McCain’s reformist credentials, but it barely caused a ripple on cable or the blogosphere.

Schreiber all but says it: Hillary Clinton needs to get out.

If McCain winds up facing Obama, he’ll enjoy yet another advantage: a nominee weakened by attacks from a fellow Democrat…

Hillary’s only path to the nomination, barring a meltdown by Obama, is to destroy his electability. But harsh attacks on Obama will inevitably discourage African Americans from voting in the fall, and Hillary can’t beat McCain without strong black turnout in places like Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia. Conversely, any attack on Hillary that alienated moderate Republican women could cripple Obama’s chances.

The chances of Hillary Clinton doing the right thing and stepping aside are about equal to the chance that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will someday put impeachment on the table. That they aren’t going to happen doesn’t change the fact that both decisions would be good for America.

Digg!

Hillary wants to derail the Democrats

Hillary wants McCain to win the White House if she cannot. She figures if she isn't the next Democratic president, then no one should be. Her egocentric, solipcistic logic focuses on 2012 (and, of course, herself). If Obama becomes president in 2008, he will presumably run for re-election in 2012. If he wins, his vice president will likely be a major contender in 2016. By then, Hillary's moment will long have passed. If four more years of neocon warfare under McCain, whipping up blue-collar racism, and pitting feminists against blacks is what it takes for Hillary to avoid being eclipsed by another Democrat, it's OK with her. Her destiny is her ego.

I'm a 72-year-old Vietnam veteran, former Air Force pilot and lifelong resistered Republican who knows real leadership when I see it. John McCain is one such person, a natural leader. But so is Obama.

However, unlike John and rightwing GOP, Barrack will inspire the majority of Americans, not divide them. Even so, should Billary steal the Democratic nomination, I will vote for McCain. More than once -- if possible.

If John McCain wins the November election I and many other Americans will blame one person -- Hillary Clinton.
Sorry Hillary. If you think you can just run in 2012 if McCain wins in 2008, think again. No one will vote for you then, since you are why the Democrats cannot get elected, in many people's minds.

The Problem

In my opinion, The Problem is that democrats keep putting up weak candidates with no depth. Hillary is attempting to run on the idea that polishing silverware and jet-setting to foreign countries should count as foreign policy experience..and now it's coming out that even THAT experience was highly inflated. She's running a pretend campaign..she pretends to have ideas, pretends to have experience, and pretends to have a chance against a republican candidate who has actual experience. the fact that she possesses a vagina is just not enough.

Obama is running on "Change"...change *to WHAT* we have no idea. Except now we know that the change apparently has something to do with hating white people and believing in Black Liberation theology (at least for the 20 years before deciding to run for president). Why was this candidate not vetted properly? Who's going to vote for Obama now other than the New Black Panther Party?

Sad as it is to say, John McCain is the only current candidate that even appears to be slightly "presidential". So thanks to more bad choices by the Dem's it's likely we'll have ANOTHER Warmonger'n Chief. Once again the democrats are snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The legitimate and reasonable candidate, John Edwards apparently held no interest for the democrats, for whatever reason. I hear that by delegate count it will be almost impossible for Hillary to get the nomination, so it appears the lineup is going to be McCain vs. Obama. In that matchup, I'm calling it for McCain by over 10 percentage points. Assuming that McCain doesn't die of old age before the election it seems to me he'll have an easy win.

Hillary and McCain suck!!!

Hillary and Bill are willing to twist any truth to their advantage. If it doesn't fit, change the story so it will. Bush lies and then prevents anyone from getting the proof or material to prove it. McCain tells the truth as he sees it (even though it is never accurate). And then he has others cover for him.
For those of you who don't like Obama because of his Pastor, you really should do your research. He tells it like it is. I haven't gone to a church in nearly 20 years and his would be the first I would consider going to now. Watch the video in full and not what FOX, O-Reilly, Murdoch and Moon want you to see.
BTW, Bill Clinton asked for Pastor Wrights advice when he had his problems with Lewinski. Does Clinton lose points for asking for his guidance?
If Reagan or Kennedy gave uplifting speeches, people would be fawning all over them. Clinton and McCain recognize that Obama has this ability when they don't.
Obama is the right choice.

"stuff a sock in it"? I highly doubt such violent imagery would be used to describe Obama's campaign. I'm neither an Obama nor Clinton supporter, but I think the title was quite sexist and unneccessary. I'm disappointed in Alternet.

I am getting more and more angry at Bill and Hilary. They are putting their own blind ambition to get back in the white house ahead of everything.

Hilary's comments about ducking sniper fire and all her other recent exaggerations make her look crazy.

My vote would go to the one who can slam McCain the hardest with facts. He has left openings for easy opposition right and left, probably because he is acutely aware of the absence of any kind of constructive opposition. As it is, the only opposition I detect is between the Democrats, and I really believe that I will not vote for either one now. I shall probably write in someone or other in the general election.
