Bush Joins In: Says Economic Woes Are All in Our Heads

Posted by Blue Texan, Firedoglake at 4:43 PM on July 15, 2008.

Energy crisis joins the recession as things that the GOP think are all in our heads.

Mr. 26% gave a totally pointless presser this morning to screw with the coverage of Obama's excellent speech and repeated the latest wingnut talking point on the Bush Recession: the serious economic and energy problems the country faces are just all in everyone's head. Quoth President Arbusto:

"I readily concede that it's [drilling] not going to produce a barrel of oil tomorrow, but it's going to change the psychology."

And don't you know it -- McSame said exactly the same thing a couple weeks ago.

Even though it may take some years, the fact that we are exploiting those reserves would have psychological impact that I think is beneficial.

See, all we have to do is start building a bunch of oil rigs off the coast of Miami Beach and BOOM! Those mean Saudis -- the ones that just told Bush to go to hell when he went begging for more oil -- will suddenly, through the magic power of psychology, open up the spigots.

And for the Bush Recession? McSame simple solution!

I think psychologically -- and a lot of our problems today, as you know, are psychological -- the confidence, trust, the uncertainty about our economic future, ability to keep our own home.

So get a grip, America. Stop whining.

A little positive thinking will Unleash The Power Within(TM).

Digg!

Woes "All in Our Heads": Tell That to the Airlines

With CNNMoney.com reporting that 'bankruptcies are looming' for the embattled airline industry, which will likely effect thousands of employees as well as airline customers, I'm certain that Dubya is delusional as usual.

Everyone in this country should revel with the knowledge that the day is coming when G.W.Bush will no longer able to damage this country. Both domestically, as well as our reputation around the world.

Psy-Ops

"The ruling ideas of an epoch are always the ideas of the ruling class" -- Marx

In that same speech, this man who would be the 'decider' articulated that all this, of course, involved 'Ideology'. Now what precise and clearly defined Ideology might this Wise Man be referring to? Only 'in the mind', 'in the head' does any Ideology reside.

It seems those such as the most honorable and deranged spokesmen of the New American Century like Mr Gramm and Mr Bush and many others (with help from WHAT sector of heavy-hitting and well connected 'scientists' in all sub-fields of Psychology and Physiology?) would very much like to convince us all that they, and only they live utterly and completely OUTSIDE THEIR HEADS, OUTSIDE THEIR MINDS, "Objectivismally".

I'm persuaded. They're all definitely 'out of their minds' and 'out of their heads'. "The ruling ideas of any epoch are always the ideas of the ruling class". Not only here in the good old USA but all over the world, we are all being ruled by Madmen. The Rich are building their Asylum.

Of course, the foregoing was the product of observation and imagination -- 'all in my head' I suppose. My health, my bank account, my employment status, my range of liberty and security, my dignity, my housing-status... well such as those, I think at least, are pretty much the conditions of my existence. I don't know, maybe I'm 'crazy'?

If you can't rule by reasoning; if you can't rule by faith, if you're Will has obstacles such as Constitutions, UN Declarations and all sorts of Legal 'mumbo-jumbo', what choice might there be? Why, Rule by Madness for a Thousand Years! Objectivismally!!

I guess I'll go out into the Free Market and see if I can't Exchange my Psychology for some better one out there, maybe a nice, slick, glib one. Seems there's plenty of Models out there to choose from; I'll let The Market Decide (unless the Decider over-rules).

Meanwhile, back to these Imaginary Woes.

I was taught a fairly democratic saying. It went like this. "Well you can't be right while the whole world is wrong." Meaning the majority rules in a democracy!

So why is it that the Republicans just can't get the basic premise of democracy. How in the hell can a government that does not understand the underlying principle of democracy have any hope of actually spreading democracy to any other nation.

Your country is run by politicians who say the majority is wrong, quoting Dick Cheney on majority opinion "So!", and they are right. And there is the proof you need that America is no longer democratic. It's the illusion that America is still a democracy that is the psychological problem, not the real problems with the economy!

Problem is, that he believes every word he says. In his private world nothing is wrong. Just to be sure he has across the board Executive Privilege, just in case. He doesn't have a worry in the world. ANNA
