During today’s press gaggle, reporters pressed White House Spokeswoman Dana Perino about President Bush’s comments implying that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Democrats favor a policy of appeasement toward terrorists. Perino denied that Bush was taking aim directly at Obama, stating that presidential candidates often believe “the world revolves around you.”

However, she wouldn’t refute that his comments were meant to include the senator:

Q: But, so, not aimed at him — do they include him?

PERINO: He’ll have to speak for himself as to what his policy is and you guys can know it well. This was a speech that the President gave to the Knesset. And this is not a new statement by President Bush. This is long-established United States policy, so it should come as no surprise that President Bush suggests that we should not be talking with these people.

Perino’s comments contradict what Bush administration aides are admitting privately. As CNN’s Ed Henry reported earlier today:

White House aides are acknowledging that this was a reference to the fact that Sen. Obama and other Democrats have publicly said that it would be ok for the U.S. President to meet with leaders like the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad.

NBC’s John Yang also said that a White House official told him that Bush’s comments were aimed not only at Obama, but at former President Jimmy Carter and his suggestion that the United States talk with Hamas.

Bush's outrageous camparison of Obama to appeasers of pre-war Hitler should not be permitted to recede from our collective consciousness. So vile, so brazenly political are these remarks, so outside the appropriate limits of presidential propeiety, for this horror of a president to besmirch Obama's stated intentions to confront our enemies directly.

Americans everywhere should be embarrassed that we allow this man to be our president.

Like anybody who isn't schizophrenic listens to the shrub! Our president is a lying bag of bile headed for anonymity, and everybody who isn't clinically mentally ill knows it too. However, he probably had the Likudniks eating out of his paw since they're just as venomous and delusional as he is on the subject of Iran. Bush prides himself on his unwillingness to listen to anybody other than Karl Rove and his entourage of psychopathic sycophants. In other words, he's probably finally located the only audience left in the world for him, mentally capable of responding to the applause signs being flashed behind his podium. For my part, I'm glad we're heading for a new set of leaders who seem capable of listening to our friends and our enemies. The only question left is whether we can we dump this chump before he can trigger another international atrocity like Iraq?

I find it extraordinary that President Bush has learned nothing over the past 7.5 years. He has had a free hand to implement his foreign and domestic policy. The US and the World are the worse for it.

Why continue the imperial approach to problem solving? Or is it problem initiating?

We are not only broke, we are ass deep in debt from trying to finance these bully on the block policies. Foreign sovereign wealth funds are buying US assets wholesale. We don't have the money to maintain our infrastructure, or invest in our human capital.

Our military has been shamefully exploited, and broken down with so many repeat tours of duty to Iraq and Afganistan. The injured veterans are being shamefully short changed in care and benefits.

The economy exists on debt slavery, not production. We cannot meet our personal debts or the debts you have run up for our children and grandchildren.

How does it benefit anyone if in vanquishing your enemy, you destroy your own people. We are being destroyed, George. Maybe not you and your rich friends, but ordinary people are in decline. You have been playing tough guy, and we have been taking the punches.

I WANT a president who is a Statesman. Who will understand the military is a last resort, to be used if there is no common ground, who believes in peaceful coexistence. Someone who CAN TALK, and LISTEN.

Who will do the best he can by his people, not his ego.

How petty and juvenile the rest of the world must think we are, having our political arguments on the world's public stage.

It's as if he got up and started talking about Nazis in front of the Israeli government. Oh wait, he DID do that! Can you even believe it?

Civilization as we know it took a big step backward today.

Certainly comes in line with the Gyper's praise to brave soldiers...and his great gran'pop's collusion with the political animus so observed--heck, and the actual practices of the loonitary presnut right here at home! Yes, definitely the Repugnant Party fuhrerly speaking. How odd, when logic has been spitted upon a rod and baked.
So, no need to get steamed about this spitting, since he's only tryin' to keep his third term (or decidership) active 'mungst our domestic brand of thugees, and draw us who are hit into the brittle lines of parties that are no fun. Keep your hands on the plow...

He sounded like he could have been a Prime Minister of Israel for the Likud Party!

Perhaps he took the opportunity to shop for some real estate while he was in Jerusalem. They seem to love him there. Maybe he will get his third term after all.

To be fair, I believe we must admit, Bush has a point. The Democrats have been talking to and cutting deals with murderous criminals and enemies of the U.S. Constitution since they gained majority status and it has not done a bit of good. The more they talk, the more crimes against humanity are committed. It is well past time to stop talking around the issues and take some decisive action. Impeach Bush and Cheney, now!

to paraphrase Rabin "You do not make peace by talking to your friends"..

His ability to talk to the "other", and encouragement by the US resulted in the high point of efforts to stabilize this region. Northern Ireland followed the same trajectory. Too bad people are too blind to see this, and continue to pursue a strategy that marginalizes the moderates and empowers the extremists on both sides.

President Bush's speech
Posted by: AKW on May 16, 2008 6:00 AM
Current rating: 1    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
This is the part of President Bush's speech that Obama is objecting to. Please read it before you blindly parrot what the media is saying.

"This struggle is waged with the technology of the 21st century, but at its core it is an ancient battle between good and evil. The killers claim the mantle of Islam, but they are not religious men. No one who prays to the God of Abraham could strap a suicide vest to an innocent child, or blow up guiltless guests at a Passover Seder, or fly planes into office buildings filled with unsuspecting workers. In truth, the men who carry out these savage acts serve no higher goal than their own desire for power. They accept no God before themselves. And they reserve a special hatred for the most ardent defenders of liberty, including Americans and Israelis.

And that is why the founding charter of Hamas calls for the "elimination" of Israel. And that is why the followers of Hezbollah chant "Death to Israel, Death to America!" That is why Osama bin Laden teaches that "the killing of Jews and Americans is one of the biggest duties." And that is why the President of Iran dreams of returning the Middle East to the Middle Ages and calls for Israel to be wiped off the map.

There are good and decent people who cannot fathom the darkness in these men and try to explain away their words. It's natural, but it is deadly wrong. As witnesses to evil in the past, we carry a solemn responsibility to take these words seriously. Jews and Americans have seen the consequences of disregarding the words of leaders who espouse hatred. And that is a mistake the world must not repeat in the 21st century.

Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: "Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided." We have an obligation to call this what it is -- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history. (Applause.)

Some people suggest if the United States would just break ties with Israel, all our problems in the Middle East would go away. This is a tired argument that buys into the propaganda of the enemies of peace, and America utterly rejects it. Israel's population may be just over 7 million. But when you confront terror and evil, you are 307 million strong, because the United States of America stands with you. (Applause.)

George Bush will go to his grave justifying his actions against Iraq. He doesn't realize that while nobody wants to talk with HIM it's possible that someone else could have a shot at negotiations depending on the reasons. When the world no longer has Bush to interfere with the peace process, we could see a whole different approach. We need a president that the world doesn't hate. That will make the difference. Thanks, ANNA

That's the only way to describe this creature who stole the Presidency of the United States. He is an arrogant, rich pig who never did anything in his life but screw up everything he has touched. It would be funny if it wasn't so TRAGIC for our country and its people. He has been the final nail in the coffin of the United States of America. Too bad we didn't let the Nazis have old Prescott! At least we wouldn't have to put up with his disgusting progeny.

NO Republicans should be elected this November and I mean NONE! (That includes our many Republicrats!) The party of the corporatocracy should be relegated to the dust bin of history and the pigs who run it should be brought to justice. Let Bush and Cheney spend the last years of their miserable, greedy lives playing checkers in jail with Milosevic. And let us FINALLY start dismantling this so-called "empire" they have built, once and for all.

I just simply don't even have anymore words (four-letter or otherwise) to express my contempt for this administration. To give a speech like this in an international setting is just beyond the pale of anything I've ever seen or heard! It makes my blood boil!

Great new article by Larisa Alexandrovna over at Huffington Post (Arianna is getting a clue about this fascist regime and coup)... Brief excerpts:

"You want to discuss the crimes of Nazis against my family and millions of other families in Europe during World War II? Let me revive a favorite phrase of yours: Bring. It. On!

"The All-American Nazi

"Your family's fortune is built on the bones of the very people butchered by the Nazis, my family and the families of those in the Knesset who applauded you today:"...

"Both Harrimans and Bush were partners in the New York investment firm of Brown Brothers, Harriman and Co., which handled the financial transactions of the bank as well as other financial dealings with several other companies linked to Bank voor Handel that were confiscated by the U.S. government during World War II.

"Union Banking was seized by the government in October 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act...

"The All American Traitor

"Your family did not stop with supporting fascists and Nazis abroad, did they Mr. Bush? Surely you must know of your grandfather's role in the treasonous plot of 1933 to overthrow democracy in America? Let me remind you.

"Grandpa Bush -- that is to say, your grandfather -- wanted fascism imported into the United States, or as you now call this type of transformation, "exporting democracy." Prescott went so far as to subsidize a coup attempt in order to achieve his dream of a fascist America (see BBC report below):

"Document uncovers details of a planned coup in the USA in 1933 by right-wing American businessmen. The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush's Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression. Mike Thomson investigates why so little is known about this biggest ever peacetime threat to American..."

Much more at the link. The march for 911truth and the fascist conspirators who plunged the world into war through the Black-Op Al CIAda is just beginning to break through the American propaganda-coverup... get ready for a revival of American Liberty: Government of, by and for the People replacing government of, by and for the most insidious fascist war criminals since Adolf Hitler.

Is Bush really a Nazi sympathizer? The cleansing of 700,000 is not the killing of 6,000,000, but both are acts of genocide, both acts of race-murder.

No wonder Bush calls the Democrats "appeasers" people who who thought the Nazis wouldn't be so bad if they were given Eastern Europe without fight. Bush wants the question of fascism and of race murder directed away from him and his regime where he knows it should be applied. First he called Islamic nationalism "Islamo-fascism"; now he suggesting the Democrats are fascist sympathizers. Its time to smell the rat!
