Olbermann Rescinds Charity Offer for Cowardly Hannity

Last month on his Fox News show, torture enthusiast Sean Hannity claimed he would agree to be waterboarded “for charity…for the troops’s families.” MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann immediately took up Hannity’s pledge, offering $1,000 to charity for every second Hannity withstood waterboarding.

Over the next 30 days, Hannity went completely silent on his pledge, opting not to go anywhere near the subject of waterboarding again. Olbermann repeatedly reminded Hannity of his pledge to donate to charity in his name, but to no avail.

Last night on Countdown, Olbermann announced that he was rescinding the offer to Hannity, and instead giving $10,000 to charity following radio host Erich “Mancow” Muller’s waterboarding attempt. Olbermann promised to donate to the charity Veterans of Valor, founded by Sgt. Klay South, who administered the waterboarding to Muller. Olbermann revealed that Mancow’s publicist had contacted Olbermann’s show yesterday to see whether Olbermann would make a similar offer to Mancow as he did for Hannity:

OLBERMANN: Mancow Muller had the guts to put his mouth where his mouth was, and the guts to admit he was dead wrong. As you saw, he not only said it is torture, but that he had nearly drowned as a boy, and it is drowning, and that he would have admitted to anything to make it stop.

So the offer to the coward Hannity — a thousand dollars a second he lasted on the waterboard — is withdrawn.

And to Mr. Muller, whose station’s publicity person contacted us yesterday saying she’d heard I’d offered ten thousand dollars to anybody who would do what he did –

You got it. Ten thousand dollars to the military-families charity of the man who did the waterboarding, Veterans Of Valor. [...]

As to Hannity, you are now unnecessary.

Olbermann also announced that Mancow will appear on his show next week.

Digg!

Keith, you go overboard sometimes but you are right on on this one. You come out of this smelling like a rose, and Hannity comes out smelling like .., well, not smelling so good. Hannity is such a pompous arrogant jerk.

to put his money where his mouth is!

Too bad Hannity the Manatee shows what a coward and liar he is. He had an opportunity, but he blew it. What a chickenshit.

Hannity & entire Faux News are all talk, no substance.

This is just one of the many examples of Faux News doing what they do best: all talk with absolutely no substance to back it up.

And to think there are mindless sheep out there who eat it all up.

The world is hoping that slowly . . .

. . America is coming to its senses. Ain't easy being at the top of the heap: It imposes big responsibilities. The last few years have seen (hopefully) the worst of the rich spoilt kid called "USA"'s bad behaviour. We're hoping he's growing up.
Why, we're even hoping he'll give cowardly liars like Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, etc the shaft!

But to do this is not going to be easy: You have to re-visit ALL the lies. The Hollywood lies about US heroism in WW2, Vietnam, Iraq, etc. The Hollywood lies about your democracy, your "not to be criticised" capitalist system, etc. The Hollywood lies about a "chosen people" (America AND Israel), etc.

Will you do it? Time will tell. With Obama it looks like one step forward, two steps back.

Hannity is a typical neoCon

Hannity stridently coax the whipped-up, young naive types to fight destructive wars overseas but he gets to stay home and armchair cheerlead.

All neoCons should submit to waterboarding, if only for the humbling experience.

I try to watch Shawn but I can only take five minutes. His show is nothing but spin and when he was offered $1,000 a minute to waterboard I knew pretty boy wouldn't do it. How is it that all the shows at Fox "news" seem to be the same way- ALL TALK. MSNBC needs a program that does only one thing: Expose the lies that Fox broadcasts on a daily basis. I'd be ashamed to make the money he makes to do nothing but spread misinformation and keep us divided. He's just a loud-mouth punk who gets by because of his self-inflated ego.

Hannity's only remaining issue now that water boarding is "off the table" would be that clerical sodomy of choir boys builds fair and balanced character.

They like to talk big and minimize torture. When it comes to the real deal, like undergoing a "harmless" waterboarding, he has amnesia. I feel sorry the listeners who accept all that phony baloney bluster. Your guy is a fake and a coward.

My hat's also off to Mancow, and I wish all other "shock jocks" and right-wing blabbermouths did the same thing he did. Since he's so enamored of the process, I'd start with Dick Cheney.

I have no doubt that Teh Keith will do exactly as he says, and donate $10,000 to the charity. I do want to know whose money he is donating. If it is his own, then he needs more than just a shout out from each of us. He deserves our respect AND he deserves support. If I see proof that it was Keith's own money (and not something out of the MSNBC publicity fund) I will donate $25 to the same charity. (Given how much he makes versus how little I make, that's comparable.)

But if it's from MSNBC's publicity funds I'll be a little disappointed. I'll still donate but not as fast and not as happily.

Hannity is imbecilic, beyond the pale. But I don't trust Olbermann; he's an egomaniac, and I wouldn't be surprised if, like the despicable turncoat Hitchens, Olbermann makes a 180 degree turn when it suits him, becomes in effect a less dumb, more nerdy version of Hannity.
