Yglesias extrapolates: "The president-elect working hard while the president is hardly working. Of course, given what we've seen from the Bush administration it's probably just as well that he stick to pardoning turkeys and leave the policy response to Obama's team. If only he'd thought of this strategy when he first moved in to the White House."

Pardon The Turkey

What I don't get about the turkey-pardoning act is this.
Every year the president "pardons" a turkey. (By the way, doing so in unconstitutional, I would think, because the turkey has not actually committed any crimes against the United States, as far as I know. But I digress.)

But then the president's family sits down on Thanksgiving to a meal of ... turkey!
Shouldn't the president and his family go vegetarian for Thanksgiving? I mean, sure the president saves one turkey, but then he eats another anyway. Hell, he probably eats the very same turkey he pardoned, knowing President Bush...

Bush found a job that he's qualified for. Standing in front of a bunch of media, a fat turkey, making jokes -- while the rest of us are focused on the world crashing around us!

We're better off if he's staying out of it!
