$68,400. That's the total of figures being reported in campaign finance reports by the Republican National Committee. The figure went for makeup for vice presidential candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. From the New York Times:

Gov. Sarah Palin's traveling makeup artist was paid $68,400, and her hairstylist received more than $42,000 for roughly two months of work, according to a new campaign finance report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Ms. Palin's makeup artist, Amy Strozzi -- who was nominated for an Emmy award for her cosmetics work on the television show "So You Think You Can Dance?" -- was paid $32,400 by Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign between Oct. 16 and Nov. 24, the period covered by the most recent reports filed with the commission.

This amount came on top of the $36,000 she had already been paid in previous reports, dating back to September.

In addition, Ms. Palin's traveling hair stylist, Angela Lew, was paid a total of $42,225, with $23,400 coming during the period covered by the latest reports to the commission, which were due at midnight on Thursday.

That sounds elitist to me, but some who normally spend those kinds of bucks on makeup and hairstyling may not think so. It's not like the RNC paid $150,000 for a wardrobe for Palin that she's still wearing, even though they promised it was going to charity, or an additional $30,000 on "accessories."

These are the folks who drove the record deficits in the last eight years. It is a wonder why anyone would trust them with government if they can't keep even simple spending down.

Digg!

Their's a lot of wasted cosmetics when you try to make a pit bull look presentable in public. They won't sit still and keep trying to get you to make up their butts, too. Or maybe they're just sticking their butts in your face for attention. Then there's the nipple rouge, in case one of them accidentally falls out on the Leno show. What's a pit bull with pale nipples?

No, I don't mean naked. I mean without makeup, hair styling, wardrobe accessories, etc. Like how she looks when she first rolls out of bed in the morning. I've never seen this pit bull without lipstick.

Why do people insist on referring to this jerk as a pit bull? All of the Pit Bulls I know are gentle, intelligent, affectionate dogs. They don't deserve this slander by association. In fact I can't think of a single four legged animal, or reptile for that matter who wouldn't be insulted by the comparison. The only creature I would put in the same league would be a conservative Republican and that comparison would be redundant. Really - if we ignore her maybe she'll behave like most bullies and go away.

For "your average hockey mom" to spend her party's money so lavishly at a time when Americans are losing jobs, homes and hope would have made Marie Antoinette blush.

Oh PLEASE run her as your top candidate in '12...Please please please.
By running Her the Repugs will help solidify the left even further, Much like the Reason Rush wanted Hilalry to be the Nominee..A Cake Walk Defeat.
but would also happen is many Real Republicans (Ol' Schoolers) would also realize She is not their kind of Republican and would join Us. Just like many of US "Ol' Clintonians" who realized Hillary Was not one of US either when she started voting with this corrupt admin.
Her name must hold the record for the Shortest Joke- I get a laugh everytime I hear her name and I haven't even heard the rest of the Story. She's a Walking, Talking Punch line.

putting lipstick on a pit bull is far costlier than doing the same to a pig--at least if it is a Republican pit bull.
