Did Tony Snow go to high school? Has he ever taken a civics course? Has he never seen Schoolhouse Rock?! Because, ya know, it's almost impossible to, like, not know that this (second video) is complete and utter bullshit: "[Congress] does not have constitutional oversight responsibility over the White House."

WTP?!

Steve Benen: "Look, I know these guys are into all kinds of strange ideas about a unitary executive, but this is ridiculous. If the legislative branch doesn't have oversight responsibilities over the White House, does Snow think the White House has to answer to anyone? … [T]his isn't the executive privilege argument, this is the executive privilege argument on crack."

Indeed.

Even though I know Tony Snow probably isn't genuinely ignorant of the basic principles of American government, and is probably just spewing this nonsensical, incoherent, and Constitutionally-inaccurate horseshit because that's what he's paid to do, I'm going to go ahead and offer some help--to him, to his Oval Office masters, to whomever doesn't (or refuses to) understand that we don't live in a dictatorship (yet)--in the form of this handy-dandy chart I copied from one I found online on an elementary school resources website:

Enjoy, Tony. And take your time.

There will be a quiz at my discretion.

Evan Adds:

In the first video, Snow empties his pouch of good will in a contentious exchange with CBS's Harry Smith, whom he describes as "partisan" when the BS spewing from Snow's mouth is so unbelievable it must be challenged.

Essentially: That the White House is making a gesture of "good will" by allowing Karl Rove and Harriet Miers to have an off the record chat with congress over their -- and quite probably the president's -- role in the politically motivated firings of US Attorneys.

CREW is all over the emails' connections to the White House and Marty Lederman (thanks O) highlights one of the crucial reasons the White House's "generous offer" is meaningless:

But much more important than [the fact that the questioning wouldn't be transcribed] is that the White House would limit the scope of the testimony, and of any documents provided, so that they would not cover communications made within the White House -- i.e., among the presidential advisors who (presumably) most directly counseled the President to remove the U.S. Attorneys. And it's presumably in those communications that any evidence of the actual reasons for the removals would be contained.

Digg!

Does Selecting Clinton Mean Obama's Focused on Human Rights?
I'm hoping that this selection means the president-elect is going to put some much-needed emphasis on global human rights.

TONY SNOW'S REASONABLE OFFER

Is Tony Snow really the guy in charge of making 'reasonable offers'? He is the single most annoying man on the planet. He has no authority and gets paid not to answer questions and to insult people who are a lot smarter than her is. I wonder what would happen if he held a news conference and no one showed up? Thanks, ANNA

That has been obvious to many of us for years. He may be unpopular, but so was Hitler and so was Mussolini. They ruled through war and fear-- Bush's plan also. Just wait until the attempt to subpoena him is thrown out by his appointees on the Supreme Court who accept his picture of what Europeans call "the state of the exception". Go look it up if you don't know anything about it.If we are at war with Iran that will give even more motivation to his fascistic jurists to support "the Unitary Executive."

I just love it when mouthpieces tell us what the Americans are tired of. We are tired of all the lies and want the truth. If you have nothing to hide or lie about why not do it in public and under oath, Every one knows that if Rove testifies under oath he will probably be charged with perjury at some point. Remember Bush and Cheney did not testify with sworn testimony about 9/11. Lying is such a part their persona's that they can not tell the truth. They want the right to listen to all our communications but do not want to share. Greedy punks

That your corrupt administration is trying to do this is not entirely surprising. However, it might be helpful to look at it in two ways.

One, the obvious: They're just being their desperate, unthinking selves, though if so, this barefaced antic ups the ante on even their stupidity;

Two, and far more disturbing: The possibility that they actually think their supporters will believe this nonsense, and continue to allow them to trampled everyone's right to accountibility like some fat, drunken, congressman on an 'official' visit to Thailand. Whether they believe they can get away with it is surely the most important aspect of this situation, and something to pay very close attention to.

....but his role is comparable to that of Hitler's press secretary, that is, to lie shamelessly in support of the would-be dictator, G. Worthless Bushit, Jr, our Imbecile-in-Chief, who is so narcissistic and sociopathic that he thinks he can appoint himself Emperor-For-Life, like Idi Amin but dumber. The problem is that Snow thinks fast on his feet and in battle with almost anyone can make our idiot voters think that Bushit's positions may have some merit, because after all, there are fierce arguments going on, right? Two sides to every story, so let's hear them both for fairness, right? Like Bushit's comments on evolution versus Intelligent (that is, stupid) Design.

Melissa... Arrow heads are going in wrong direction in the bottom right two bubbles. Love your chart. I think I can work up a fine anti-Bush poster with this one.

and usually a hodge-podge of politically correct tidbits, revisionism, and inaccuracies bought by large government contract gained through lobbying, graft, and kickbacks. The arrows are in the wrong direction in some cases and it completely ignores the true "balance of power" equation which consitited of the Federal, State, and the People. Of course, States no longer have much power due to the Federal aggrandisement of the Republicans (Lincoln especially) and then taken over by the Democrats. Both parties love the large uber-state of the Federal government. And as for the people....I'm laughing. We have no more rights effectively.

Yes, they're just being their desperate, stupid selves. When they're wrong, the bullshit flies! Anything to generate attention away from what they've done wrong. Lying BIG is the best thing to do. This really sucks if they are allowed to trample the Constitution and avoid accountibility. Needless to say, this confrontation can be the single most important contribution this congress can make. Only one other accomplishment would loom as large...getting us out of Iraq.

Tony SnowJob is not even good at spewing the bullshit of the White House. He doesn't know how the government is supposed to work. He is living the idealistic unreality of the administration.
"The Congress has no oversite of the White House"
What kind of crap is that? What country does he think he is living in? The United States of Bush? He needs to grow some balls and go back to school to learn basic 6th grade civics.

...for a growth in his abdomen. It's a shame that the man is sick, but I can't help but wonder if it is because he has been forced to internalize the lies of his crime bosses. Perhaps all that bile took its toll on him.

I had no idea who Tony Snow was until I watched these videos. Well, I knew who he was before he got his current gig and what position he was in now but I had never personally seen him speak.

This man is a hypnotist! Hate him or love him but he's got that whole "persuasive speaking" thing down pat. I wish I could B.S. half that well because I'd be in an executive position in any company in America within 10 years guaranteed.

This guy takes "professional B.S." to a new and frightening level.

Tony is so arrogant and bullying and feels he can state outright lies because he is told to do it by the current administration. He's just a puppet-like mouthpiece working for his masters.I feel bad for him r/t his cancer, but maybe he can finally get some rest from the lies that he has had to relay for an administration that obviously cares for no one, (not even him), but their own agenda.
