...the Chicago Tribune's headline on the story was "More Cheers Than Boos", and their first line was "More cheers than boos were heard at National Park tonight when President Bush tossed the first ceremonial pitch." They were quoting the "pool reporter," but this video certainly indicates otherwise. Yay for boos!

This short clip illustrates the larger U.S. dynamic at play...a crowd overwhelmingly booing, a minority cheering and a media that denies/ignores the bleeding obvious: most Americans hate this guy and what he stands for. The commentator maintains the "ignore that man behind the curtain" facade by confining his assessment of what just happened to parroting the talking points, including reminding us of 9-ll to keep our sense of fear primed. It's not just the nightly news folks that manufacture consent - sportscasters are in on it too.

Do any of you honestly believe that George Bush is beholden to the American people?

Of course, the corporate "mainstream news" media promote the cynical notion that Presidents are "men of the people", "consent of the governed" and all that, but this is simply not the case.

The "people" can "BOOOOOOOO!" until they're blue-in-the-face, but when all is said and done George Bush simply doesn't give a damn what we think of him.

So, in that respect his smile and wave to the crowd was genuine--he was doing his job, like any competent CEO.

The opinion of "we the people" means nothing to Georg Bush; he is beholden to the powers that be--the MSM, the banks, the insurance conglomerates, the big pharmaceutical companies, and the Military Industrial Complex.

Thus, as long as George Bush "increases share holder value" and "maximizes profit" for these corporations he is a resounding success in the eyes of the powers that be--the folks who really count in the eyes of George Bush.

If you honestly believe that the crowd's reaction makes any impression on a sociopath of the "caliber" of George Bush...well, let's just say that you're too naive to be let out alone at night. `;^)

While unmistakable boos could be heard in the video there were no comments in the voice over about it. No surprise.

Think of this: What if, instead of booing, the whole stadium fell silent and everyone turned their backs as Bush threw out the first pitch?

Everytime I think I've seen it all he comes up with a better act. He can't possibly know what's going on around the world and at home. He's completely detached. I watched the video, and hardly think "Bush gets booed by crowd of 41,000" is an accurate headline.

I could hear the boos, but they were hardly overwhelming.

At the reception after the game GW proposed a toast to the thousands who had cheered him on. However he was a little dissapointed to hear it said that TWO people had booed him. He remarked it may have been the two suspicious looking men he saw who may have illegaly entered the US form Iraq.He has promised that they will be executed after their trial which will be taking place the next day.
A firm believer in fair justice for all especially those who are stupid enough to believe one single word he utters he said the fair trial wold be held in Texas which would gaurantee the death penalty for these infidels who do not understand that he (GW) is invincible.

I am positive was under the gun to hold his tongue during W's richly deserved boo-fest last night. Jon is the Giants' announcer and we are treated to his unique humor all season long here in San Francisco (humor that will be sorely needed this season, I'm afraid). Had he been given his normal leash, he would have had a field day with W, lasting into the third inning, at least. Other readers who know his work with the Giants will agree with me.
