The NY Times has a great piece today about American Muslim artists who are creating videos like this one to challenge stereotypes about Islam.

In December 2007, over 2,000 American Muslims were asked what they wished they could say to the world. This is what they said.

MAS Media Foundation presents "A Land Called Paradise." Unofficial music video for Kareem Salama's "A Land Called Paradise." Directed by Lena Khan.

Say it isn't so. How can we hate them for no reason unless we make them less than human?

I cried all the way through it. ESPECIALLY over the girl who wears the scarf and her parents don't want her too. I can relate.

Thank you.

Islam is a religion of peace.

The best one for me was "Terrorists hijacked my religion."

Ah, such a break from the crap doled out by all-too-serious news media types.

Brought the TV series "Little Mosque on the Prairie" to mind with about people who happen to be Muslims living in Saskatchewan Wheat Pool territory. But then, I am a big fan of "churchy" humour.

More of this ilk on alternet.org please!

I love when others tear the blinders off and see, SEEEEEE.
My only problem is my daughter is Muslim but she is blonde and green eyed, didn't see that. Malcolm X found out on his hac(turkish spelling)and realized he was praying next to persons that only his words do justice to. This caused his assasination by the NOI under orders by Elijah Muhammed.
all colors shapes sizes and COLORS. But I truly LOVED it, people need to see this and I will pass it on...........
Thanks!
