While the Pennsylvania primary has been over for nearly a couple of weeks now, this clip still seems fitting. Chris Matthews is surprisingly critical of the mainstream media's role in perpetuating the "delusion" that Clinton has a chance of winning.

I watched this at the time and have since seen them attempt to implement it. Chris is a good guy to watch for this sort of behavior because he'll do his brainstorming on-air, allowing us to see how it works.

Thank you, thank you for posting this. I hope it is enlightening to many on how they do the tricks of their trade - throwing elections. So we all agree, Hillary is not going to get elected? Oh wait, we still have those pesky Di-Bold election machines.

You know in Mexico they have more reliable elections and they count the ballots by hand. If we weren't so busy being corrupt, we could do a lot better then we do.

First off, thanks for posting this video. I would assume that most politically aware people realized Clinton was out of the race a while ago. My question is why does she keep going? For all of her faults, I don't think being stupid is one of them. She must know that it's practically a mathematical certainty that she can't win. Why pour in the time and money? I can't see any benefit to herself for doing such; I can only see detriment to Obama...

Why?

one of the worst perpetrators of this "Hillary can still win" nonsense? This isn't a rhetorical question - I stopped watching Chris' bloviating weeks ago. If I'm wrong, please tell me.

Chris Mathews making sense. It must really be over for Clinton. Too bad the rest of the MSM couldn't put two and two together. The delusional thinking is what will allow the justification of stealing the primary process from Obama and crowning Clinton. The Republicans' dream candidate, Hillary, will allow McCain to be close enough that they'll have a three-peat stolen election.

to the whole "Hillary for President" movement, endlessly asking her if she would run over the last couple years. Then promoting the primary as a "virtual tie" for as long as it served his purpose of generating viewership. He's basically a whore who likes to be at the party. Remember his "We're all neocons now" comment 5 years ago when covering the "Mission Accomplished" photo-op of Bush. He was giddy as a schoolgirl (sorry schoolgirls, just an old expression). I have no use for Matthews.

Hillary Fairy Tale

Here is a level-headed numerical analysis that illustrates how the Media is falsely telling us the Obama/Clinton contest is a horse race. In fact the analysis shows us that the horse-race has no clothes--- er -- no basis in fact. It is a misstatement --you know, the Hillary kind.

excerpt:
'Here's a rule I would like every political reporter, campaign official, TV talking head, and politician in the United States to follow. Go ahead and say, if you like, that Hillary Clinton retains a serious chance of winning the Democratic nomination. If you say this, however, you must describe a set of circumstances whereby this could happen. Try not to make it sound like a fairy tale.'

Well, when things don't make sense, follow the money.

The two "democratic" candidates are spending many millions weekly on television ads. So why would the tv companies want the primary election to ever end?

The Hillbilly Strategy

Although it seems that the Hill and Bill Show are staying in the race in hopes of swaying undecided super-delegates, this is mere camouflage for their real agenda, which is to sink Obama and assist McCain in winning the presidency so that she will have a fresh run for the White House after McCain's one term.

She's willing to give the White House back to the Republicans for four years in order for her the become president in 2012.

What a sick bitch.

Long Tail Sells Clinton Candidacy; Divides Market, Constituency, and Country

Dear ZP Heller . . .

I greatly appreciate this discussion. Weeks ago, on Reliable Sources, Journalist Jessica Yellin spoke of how the Clinton Camp has provided the "talking points" for months. Hence, the belief that Senator Clinton has more than a chance prospers.

I offer a bit of the transcript.
Jessica Yellin: But we have this huge debate about the 10 points, the double digits. We are all, I think, picking up on Hillary Clinton's narrative, in fact. I think we're giving her a lot of momentum.

And this "close the deal" phrase is something I used to hear from Clinton folks months and months ago. And...

Kurtz: We're giving her a lot of momentum? She won, Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania on her own.

Yellin: And this argument that the big states is the key is a Hillary Clinton argument. And so, we've picked up on that argument as the media.

In a primary, it's different. They're facing off. In a general election, there's an argument he could win those big states, arguably.

For me, there is another aspect to consider. The Long Tail Theory teaches us there is a market for any commodity or candidate. Hillary Clinton has capitalized on this truism. Voters are not bombarded with the results of the Pennsylvania race as it relates to Ron Paul, or Mike Huckabee. Neither demands attention, as Senator Clinton does. Yet, on April 22, 2008 one of these former candidates received sixteen percent [16%] of the vote. The other garnered eleven percent [11%].

In this election Hillary Clinton wants us to vote for her. She thinks she is "best" to lead us, the common people. Barack Obama reminds us, this is our country, and we must work to take it back. Potential President Obama tells Americans of where he came from and why he wishes to be an inspirational President. He offers his personal history, and states "Politics did not lead me to working people. Working people led me to politics."

As the former First Lady markets herself, Barack Obama less loudly shares a message that most Americans once hoped was valid. Government was meant to be, of, by, and for the people.

I invite your review, reflections, and thoughts on . . .

Clinton has been obvious about why she's still in the race.

She's looking for a way to get the nomination.
Here's a few ideas the Clintons have floated:

--Get popular vote. Counting the popular vote is troublesome because there are no accurate ways to do this for states that hold caucuses. Regardless there are some superdelegates who appear willing to support Clinton if she somehow can show she has more of this inaccurate popular vote.

--Get superdelegates to overwhelmingly support her. Superdelegates can change their minds at any point. Clinton started with a big advantage here, but slowly Obama has been catching up. There's every indication that the superdelegates are just waiting for the primaries to be over, then will provide enough support to Obama to make him the nominee.

--Get regular delegates to switch sides. During the convention, delegates can vote for whoever they like if the first vote does not produce a winner. But the Democratic Party elites fear that this action would seriously damage their voter base. This would harm not only the presidential election, but also state and local elections.

It is more than possible to claim to be 100% right 100% of the time.

If Matthews is expert anything, he is expert at that.

Must be why he likes McCain so much.
