George Tiller's Alleged Murderer Threatens More Violence

Scott Roeder, the 51-year-old man accused of fatally shooting OB-GYN George Tiller last Sunday, has threatened more violence against abortion providers. In a conversation with the AP, the alleged murderer stated:

"I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal," ... When asked by the AP what he meant and if he was referring to another shooting, he refused to elaborate further.

It’s not clear if Roeder was just mouthing off to get publicity or if the alleged killer was referring to specific events planned by possible accomplices. While it sounds like the former, this time around authorities are thankfully taking the threat seriously and upping protection of abortion facilities:

Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a written statement Sunday that "we take this matter seriously, which is why the Attorney General ordered increased protection of appropriate people and facilities last week."

As many commentators pointed out following Tiller's murder, violent acts by anti-choice extremists are meant to intimidate women's health providers into abandoning abortion services. As Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, pointed out in a statement released following Tiller's death:

Dr. Tiller's murder will send a chill down the spines of the brave and courageous providers and other professionals who are part of reproductive-health centers that serve women across this country. We want them to know that they have our support as they move forward in providing these essential services in the aftermath of the shocking news from Wichita.

And the situation is pretty dire as is. According to some alarming statistics assembled by the Guttmacher Institute:

• The number of U.S. abortion providers declined by 2% between 2000 and 2005 (from 1,819 to 1,787). Eighty-seven percent of all U.S. counties lacked an abortion provider in 2005; 35% of women live in those counties.[2]

• Forty percent of providers offer very early abortions (even before the first missed period) and 96% offer abortion at eight weeks from the last menstrual period. Sixty-seven percent of providers offer at least some second-trimester abortion services (13 weeks or later), and 20% offer abortion after 20 weeks. Only 8% of all abortion providers offer abortions at 24 weeks.[2]

• The proportion of providers offering abortion at four or fewer weeks’ gestation increased from 7% in 1993 to 40% in 2005.[11]

• In 2005, the cost of a nonhospital abortion with local anesthesia at 10 weeks’ gestation ranged from $90 to $1,800; the average amount paid was $413.[2]

"I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal..."

Holding the country hostage to this brand of terrorism until we outlaw abortion? And his saying that he "knows" would lend one to believe there is a criminal conspiracy afoot by these militant extremists.

If Roeder's last name were "Muhammad" and he and his cohorts were members of an Islamic organization, they would ALL be in jail already, and the Republics would all be running around with their hair on fire!

Hypocrisy of the worst kind.

(And why is he allowed to make a phone call to the media from his jail cell, anyway?)

This terrorist just admitted to a conspiracy! He should be held as a terrorist and subject to interrogation to identify his co-conspirators. Gitmo, anyone?

Gets his moment in the spotlight.
And listen to the BS that springeth forth from his tiny little mind.
Pathetic, evil little bastard...

Someone explain to me, why doe s it seem to be a lot of defective people who shouldn't have children for a long list of reasons who murderously concern themselves with taking away other peoples reproductive rights?
Not to mention their embryos?
Who is their God? It's not the Christian one, by documented accounts and personal experience. It's some strange, Demon from Hell as far as I can determine from Biblical text and/or reference.
They can't take care of themselves or coexist with others, follow the laws of society when they don't like them or refrain from breaking every "Commandment" of their ever-so-Holy f-ing BIBLE?
If these are Christians, then lets bust out the Lions and be Romans, already.
Fuck these inbred liars and their delusions.

Don't we use waterboarding with terrorists?

Where are Cheney, Yoo, Coulter and the whole crowd? Why aren't they screaming "torture him!' in order to prevent terror acts against Americans in the future?
Oh right, I forgot, the guy's a frickin' martyr to them. Really, there is no difference between that whole crowd of nuts and Obama Bin Laden's own crowd.
This being said, Roeder is the best argument I ever heard for waterboarding. It's sooooo tempting.

The creep has left that issue behind.
This thing's REAL issue is feeding its psychotic hunger and need for murder.
THAT is what it's REALLY all about.

The thing has long ago used this as a way of satsifying its need for any sort of violence with the ONLY act which comes close to satisfying it being murder.

Abortion is NO LONGER the actual issue.
MURDER/MAYHEM is its issue and motivation.

All the rest is bullshit and lies on the part of this thing and the other things like it.

Now, you have a crystalline example of "TERRORISM.' If these rodents' god allows this sort of behavior and activity, it follows that it's long past time to OUTLAW RELIGION. To treat them as if they are animals, and ablate them from the earth. Now we live in a country that considers Islam as a euphemism of terrorism. Totally discounting the countless acts of horror committed by the catholic church to this day, and the roaches like this mope that whacked the doctor, and whilst he was in church. These vermin vote, reproduce and seem to have no inhibition to cowardly violent acts as this one. GIT RIDDUH GAWD!! Whilst at this task, lets support public education and require that the parents are at least high school grads before they can even attend Parent teacher meetings. This way, we can force those that compose such things as "American and World History" to actually DO THIS TASK. ALL OF IT. MOST IS NOT COMPLIMENTARY TO THE US. Further lets get rid of this government that is run by corporate america that via their criminal behavior, they have wrecked countless lives world wide. And for sauce for this goose, we get to pay for it. How long are you americans going to imitate mushrooms?

Here is an example where the US should take on Israel's stated foreign policy of killing ten Palistinians for every Israeli civilian murdered.

The government should immediately open up (sponsor) ten more abortion clinics every time one is shut down by terrorists.

Why is this man getting "interview"
time? He is not worth listening to
and will cause others to do the same
thing that he is accused of doing.

Until a man has a baby it is off limits
for MEN to comment on abortion in
my book. If you do not want to have
one DO NOT. Otherwise, it is legal,
so make up your own mind.

A few years ago I took a friend to
a clinic for an abortion (it was then
illegal in her state). At the clinic
was a 12-year old girl (holding her
doll). She was a child -- no physical
development at all. Had been raped by a "friend of the family." Mother
refused to prosecute. I shall never
forget that tiny little girl. Yes,
she had the abortion. Thus, my positive stance that it MUST be there for anyone who wants or needs the operation.

Since Scott Roeder says he knows about more terror attacks coming him up, why don't we get Jack Bauer or Dick Cheney to waterboard him to get the information?

Since the FBI has clearly demonstrate they do not have the tools nor the willingness to stop these real terrorists from dictating their own agenda, there is one sure cure: SHOOT BACK!!! All requests are treated with respect, money is not an issue. Background: Three-years with the 82nd Airborne Division. Trained in all environments, with every weapon the 501st Battle Group uses in combat. And, can still whack a running rodent @ 300-meters.

Organized religion

It seems to me that organized religion ("opiate of the masses") is the true culprit here. It really seems to appeal to the more dim-witted and brain-washable of Americans who are in the same realm as suicide bombers, wasting this life for a potential (and thoroughly unproven) one in the future. So so sad. And why is it that women are the ones these nutcases prey on the most?
