Michael Steele Says Health Care's Easy ... and Adds Some Silly Fearmongering

While hosting Bill Bennett’s radio show this morning, RNC Chairman Michael Steele fearmongered about a government-run “health police” that would force Americans to get their annual physicals. The way to solve the health care crisis, Steele said in another portion of the show, is “not that complicated”: All we have to do is “figure out who” doesn’t have access to health care, “and give them access!”

STEELE: So if it’s a cost problem, it’s easy: Get the people in a room who have the most and the most direct impact on cost, and do the deal. Do the deal. It’s not that complicated.

If it’s an access question, people don’t have access to health care, then figure out who they are, and give them access! Hello?! Am I missing something here? If my friend Trevor has access to health care, and I don’t, why do I need to overhaul the entire system so I can get access he already has? why don’t you just focus on me and get me access?

Listen to it:

Who knew that, despite the years of delay and debate, all the president has to do is “do the deal” and “give [everyone] access!” Steele’s right — it’s not complicated! Steele should be supporting a public plan, which is the best path to ensuring increase access to health care for all.

Digg!

... obviously healthcare is easy. Thats why the Republicans used their 6 years in total control to completely fix it, along with everything else in this country. That is why we have such great medical care for everyone today, saner laws on things like pot, and our economy has never been in better shape!

At lot of things are easy, Michael. Like getting a man to Mars, just do the deal. Solving the Israeli/Palestinian thing, you know, just do the deal. How about solving global warming? Just get some people in the room and do the deal! My god man, how hard can it be? Just do the deal. Michael, how about getting your man in the White House in 2012. Just do the deal! Get someone who wears the bill of his hat cocked a little to the left and do the deal!
Whatta freekin' clown... We lefties need this guy running the Republican party.

Obviously I want all people to have access to healthcare, but being one who is CURRENTLY covered, I want my healthcare cost to be lower- at least affordable! Starting with how much is pulled out of weekly wages, then out of pocket costs/deductables, plus medication costs, and those necessary meds & tx's which are not covered.
Don't bother telling me I will have to wait to see a Doc- when it takes me 6 months to get a Gyno appt! Don't tell me I will wait in 'Long lines' when on average I already wait about 45 minutes before I'm shown into an examining room, then another 5-10 until some one comes in to take my temp & blood pressure, then another 5-10 until the Doc makes it in for my 10-15 speed exam and conversation!
Luckily- knock on wood- neither of Us have had to be hospitalized to find out how much more is NOT covered.
Everytime a Repug opens their mouths they admit how ignorant they are of the inadequate, over priced healthcare system US average Americans are subjected to.Must be nice to be so wealthy your doc caters to your every need, Or have your healthcare provided at the Taxpayers expense with the added bonus of 'Front of the line' priviledge of being a Big Whig Politican.
I'd rather have an increased payroll tax taken out which covers all my healthcare expenses then being nickled, dimed and Franklin'd ( or Wilson'd -Old $100,000 bill)To death, or to foreclosure or to bankruptcy.
Perhaps the Repugs Shouldn't have listened to Rush and Scraped that 'Listening tour' they could use a good schooling by the American Public when it comes to NUMEROUS topics! And isn't that what 'Public Servants' should do- Listen to the Public they are to serve?
True leaders in a Democracy only Lead where the Public TELLS Them to Go. Rush's credo to the Repugs to 'Tell the American Public' anything is proposing a Treasonous Doctrine.
Like the commercial where the man says "I lead, but only where she tells me to"- so goes in a Democracy and how the priviledge of leadership works.Rush is a proponent and the Repugs are supporting a Dictatorial govt'al doctrine. Our Public servants only lead, when, how and where WE THE PEOPLE Tell them to!And WE Want at least a Public Option!

if you make things so complicated nothing will get done except a lot of trash talk and no results...

please define 'do the deal'... deals mean negotiation...

isn't this the plan, to gridlock both houses so it may be the year 3000 before minor health care reform happens with a lot of finger pointing and blame going round in circles...

way too much $$ from vested interests in the status quo already invested... don't get your hopes up...

back to coffee...

There is a viable alternative to any government
sponsored health care program. It is called the
Alexander Mcgee Medical Plan. Based on the idea
of a co-operative, this plan, or some derivative of it, could be the answer to our
health care dilemma. Clearly, the idea is catching on, across the country, as Congressmen, radio & T.V. talk about it more and more. We have sent by mail and fax, a notice to the White House. For more information on the McGee Plan go to:
www.breakingnewsjournal.net for my article
entitled, "Health Care-Who Cares-I Do".

Steele's asinine "ideas" remind me of Steve Martin's advice on how to be a millionaire and never pay taxes:

Step 1. Get a million dollars.

Step 2. Don't pay your taxes.

What could be simpler? Or more simple-minded? At least Martin was intentionally going for laughs.

I have watched every clip I could find on the healthcare plan according to President Obama. He has stated the following: "Healthcare is a right","I prefer a single payor system","If you like your healthcare plan you can keep it","A public option will get us to a singlepayer system","Everyone will have healthcare available to them as good as the members of congress" This can not ALL be TRUE!

If it weren't so sad this would be a great sitcom.

Each week we have a "team" of republicans solve one of our national problems in 22 minutes of laughter, intermixed with commercials telling us to eat fat and burn more gas.

But then these clowns don't have good writers any more much less good ideas. ( Ever listen to Rush ? )

I agree with you, though I have been one of those ‘evil left-wingers’ as of late gardening. The difference in stance on the issues between the parties all, well, foggy. It’s my perception that neither party is certain of their direction, although I will say that the Republican Party is not even wishy washy on issues, it seems as though the GOP is complacent and confused. Which is unfortunate, because then the Dems don’t have to be so certain to counter their opponents, and that is just weak politics like funny pet. Kinda like publicity stunts… and frankly Americans are likely joining in the complacency and not reacting to bigoted statements as they were durring the ruckas of election.
