Giuliani Bin Laden [VIDEO]

Olbermann rips the Republican to shreds.
olb giuiliani

Keith Olbermann's latest special comment leaves Rudy Giuliani in ribbons for his comments that, in essence, voting for a Democrat in 2008 would be suicide.

Obama tore him a new one in a Dem politician running for president kind of way, too.

Partial transcript:

Since some indeterminable hour between the final dousing of the pyre at The World Trade Center, and the breaking of what Sen. Barack Obama has aptly termed “9/11 fever,” it has been profoundly and disturbingly evident that we are at the center of one of history’s great ironies.

Only in this America of the early 21st century could it be true that the man who was president during the worst attack on our nation and the man who was the mayor of the city in which that attack principally unfolded would not only be absolved of any and all blame for the unreadiness of their own governments, but, moreover, would thereafter be branded heroes of those attacks.

And now, that mayor — whose most profound municipal act in the wake of that nightmare was to suggest the postponement of the election to select his own successor — has gone even a step beyond these M.C. Escher constructions of history.

“If any Republican is elected president — and I think obviously I would be best at this — we will remain on offense and will anticipate what (the terrorists) will do and try to stop them before they do it.”

Insisting that the election of any Democrat would mean the country was “back ... on defense,” Mr. Giuliani continued: “But the question is how long will it take and how many casualties will we have. If we are on defense, we will have more losses and it will go on longer.”

He said this with no sense of irony, no sense of any personal shortcomings, no sense whatsoever.

And if you somehow missed what he was really saying, somehow didn’t hear the none-too-subtle subtext of “vote Democratic and die,” Mr. Giuliani then stripped away any barrier of courtesy, telling Roger Simon of politico.com:

“America will be safer with a Republican president.”

At least that Republican president under which we have not been safer has, even at his worst, maintained some microscopic distance between himself and a campaign platform that blithely threatened the American people with “casualties” if they, next year, elect a Democratic president — or, inferring from Mr. Giuliani’s flights of grandeur in New Hampshire — even if they elect a different Republican.

How ... dare ... you, sir?

“How many casualties will we have?” — this is the language of Osama bin Laden.

Yours, Mr. Giuliani, is the same chilling nonchalance of the madman, of the proselytizer who has moved even from some crude framework of politics and society, into a virtual Roman Colosseum of carnage, and a conceit over your own ability — and worthiness — to decide who lives and who dies.

Rather than a reasoned discussion — rather than a political campaign advocating your own causes and extolling your own qualifications — you have bypassed all the intermediate steps and moved directly to trying to terrorize the electorate into viewing a vote for a Democrat, not as a reasonable alternative and an inalienable right ... but as an act of suicide.

This is not the mere politicizing of Iraq, nor the vague mumbled epithets about Democratic “softness” from a delusional vice president.

This is casualties on a partisan basis — of the naked assertion that Mr. Giuliani’s party knows all and will save those who have voted for it — and to hell with everybody else.

And that he, with no foreign policy experience whatsoever, is somehow the messiah-of-the-moment.

Even to grant that that formula — whether posed by Republican or Democrat — is somehow not the most base, the most indefensible, the most un-American electioneering in our history — even if it is somehow acceptable to assign “casualties” to one party and “safety” to the other — even if we have become so profane in our thinking that it is part of our political vocabulary to view counter-terror as one party’s property and the other’s liability ... on what imaginary track record does Mr. Giuliani base his boast?

Which party held the presidency on Sept. 11, 2001, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party held the mayoralty of New York on that date, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party assured New Yorkers that the air... More HERE

Why was Guiliani in London during the bus and tube bombings?

Why does Guiliani run a 'security' consultant company and just happened to be in London during the bombing? Why is Guiliani involved with a company that runs toll roads (takes publicly paid for infrastructure and transfers ownership to private corporatation who then tolls the people who use it.) This guy is scary.

and any Dem can ride a wave of Guiliani ridicule right into the White House (not that Dems are any better than Repugs, they're just the slightest bit less detestable).

Only an idiot would lead his team with a strategy of all offense, no defense. That is true for any game played, be it basketball, chess, or warfare.

I can't stand guliani's delusions of grandure either, but Olberman is getting too full of himself and i think he's gonna fall soon.

Olberman paraphrases guliani by saying that guliani has positioned that he will protect those who vote repub and 'to hell' with the rest. he never said that and it's a dangerous thing to put those words in his mouth...

I know you've risen fast Olberman, but calm down buddy or yer gonna lose it all...(and stop tryin to be so wordy just for the sake of being wordy, that went out in the 50's)...

Rudy, we had a Republican president on Sept. 11, 2001. Remember? Are you shocked to find that the American people have chosen to make some changes? All those women must be clouding your memory. After all you're not a boy anymore. Thanks, ANNA

This failed-newscaster Metrosexual with the bad women's eyeglasses jumped the shark when he began his breathtakingly pompous "Special Comment" read-the-cuecard tirades. Not since Bill OReilly's "Talking Points Memo" have we seen such blowhard self-absorption. Go buy another $4M condo in Trump Tower, Keith.

It's about time somebody called Bush and Giuliani on their shortcomings re 9/11. Giuliani had years to prevent what was actually the second attempt on the World Trade Center -- what other idiot would possibly have ignored the danger after the first one?

It's about time Democrats started slamming the fratboy-in-chief for his lies and war profiteering in Iraq, for treated our servicemen and women like "Toys some rich kid got for Christmas" (Kurt Vonnegut, RIP). Giuliani is a pandering idiot, convinced by the morally bankrupt Karl Rove that the American public is stupid and responds best to sound bites and standard Republican terror-mongering lies.

It's good to see somebody with Olbermann's visibility finally speaking up.

Olbermann is right on with this one, they need to give him more time because there is lot more he could said about this mayor.

Who does the mayor plan on to keep attacking?
Probably anyone that Israel will point to.
200 years of lies and still counting!

Seriously, they just love to hear their own voices. Notice each of them raise their voices and claims the opposition to be the worst that humanity has to offer? Maybe it's because both of them think so highly of themselves.

"perfected" and expanded by a German. Ol' Bennito also didn't start out 'final solution' jew/gypsy killing but with a wish for a 'strong state' and 'socialist' goals. Look for Guilianni to help the agenda towards a total police state (he already has consulting companies and experience vis-a-vis 11-Sept and the London bombings.)

He's doing all he needs to do to win his New York audience: constantly demonize Arabs and Muslims. If only he'd change his name to Jewliani he'd have the whole deal sewed up.

I believe Giuliani... that there will be a "terrorist" attack in the eventuality of a Democrat win or even a winning candidate that doesn't represent the Greedy Old Powermongers. He definitely has enough influence to arrange it, and after learning of at the very least, government complicity and the distortion of the facts concerning the attack on the WTC buildings, it should be clear that the control freaks are only about winning.

The ends justify the means in their book - might makes right!

You Saw The Real Rudy

As anyone knows who lived in New York during Rudy's own reign of terror as mayor, what came out during the speech in New Hampshire was the real Rudy Giuliani. He is a mean, short-tempered politician who freely uses "us against them" rhetoric and enjoys claiming "Barbarians are at the gate" in dismissing, ridiculing or ignoring critics.

Mr. Olberman's Special Comment was dead-eye accurate. Bravo to him for his courage and insight.
