Tom DeLay, dancing with the bigots

In an innocuous-looking email promoting his pick on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," Tom DeLay writes:

"Sara Evans has been a strong supporter of the Republican Party and represents good American values in the media... We have always been able to count on Sara for her support of the things we all believe in. Let's show Sara that same support."
The email continues with same old patter:
"We need to send a message to Hollywood and the media that smut has no place on television by supporting good people like Sara Evans."
But why go out of his way to promote Sara Evans? I mean, DeLay doesn't come out of his spider hole every day for any old Dancing with the Stars contestant, does he?

The answer may lie in Sara's husband, ultra-rightwing theocracy-supporting Craig L. Schelske -- failed Republican candidate and cute-as-a-button executive director of Americandestiny.com.

American Destiny is an organization that promotes a revisionist history of America's founding as a theocracy and dedicates itself to busting the "myth" of separation of church and state. In order to do so, it must use the discredited scholarship of one David Barton, who used to speak at "Christian Identity" conferences. In Kingdom Coming, Michelle Goldberg wrote:
...In the past [Barton] was embraced by the racist far right, addressing at least two Christian Identity gatherings. (Christian Identity maintains that Anglo-Saxons are the true children of Israel, while blacks are "mud people" and Jews are the spawn of Satan).
DeLay is also known to cavort with Barton who, incidentally, was hired by the RNC in 2004.

Wasn't it just a couple years ago, the rightwingnuts were railing against ABC in particular for its left leaning agenda?

I guess I'll just have to leave it to my ol' buddy "just another live doper" Rush (with whom I've agreed exactly one time) who said, "There is no liberal media".

It is hard to believe that in 5 years, the progress toward tollerance of all peoples beliefs has been undone. What has happened to America you may ask? Apathy, Indifference, Two income households, and Instant gratification. More and more people just don't give a damn about anything but themselves. In congress, the majority doesn't care what happens to the people. As long as they get the support (i.e. money) from thier corporate sponsers they will keep trying to subjugate the lower classes.

Mr Delay was beside himself that Theresa Heinz Kerry and Hillary Rodham Clinton have the audacity to not take their husbands name in marriage. Now this? Tom, what happened to the family values? Oh, I forgot one. Danni Delay- Ferro. Oops! Crawl back under your rock and take your bible thumping, $$$ worshiping blasphemous haters with you. You will be judged as the sinners you are.

We now have a media that panders unendingly to our "DEAR LEADERS" Bush/Cheney endlessly. ABC and CBS have lost me as a viewer for good! NBC is no better with Bush/Cheney suckups Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough. They've come for NPTV and NPR, too. AM radio is just endless hate propaganda against anyone who criticizes our "DEAR LEADERS"!

If Keith goes...I'M going "ELVIS" on every TV I can find..in my house and elsewhere!

It's true, there are no media outlets who are actually unbiased. ALL are on talking points for the RIGHT???Why corporate dollars? Do they have death threats on family members? There is Air America-and THAT is it!!! No kidding. Even CSPAN very much leans right and if I see one more sneering twat on CNN I will puke. I guess this is the first (or second) stage of the death of democracy and birth of a facist state. (government sponsored media) I mean does it not bother anybody that there is actually a right wing news channel that gets its talking points from the White House???? What am I missing? They counted on American apathy and it is working on nicely for Rove and his gang of criminals. Now just sit back and watch how the american public falls for this mid term election rush. (this propaganda film, Bush on TV every day saying the same crap) There is a quote from him that you have to repeat it over and over. (propaganda) We were just in Australia and when he is interviewed for their news he DOESN 't use the Dumbass accent!!!! Its a canned performance. Dumbass america likes its president's "plain spoken" (thanks Katie)
