An overwhelming indication of how the world of U.S, domestic politics has changed in the past decade is the fact that 5 of the leading presidential candidates including Edwards, Obama and Clinton will all be stopping in at the 2nd Yearly Kos bloggers gathering in Chicago at the end of the week, while none of these same candidates showed up at the Democratic Leadership Conference (DLC) gathering this past weekend in Tennessee. Bill Clinton, off course headed the DLC for two years before running for the Presidency in 1992.

San Francisco Chronicle political writer Joe Garofoli quotes Markos Moulitsas ZĂșniga, blogs: "It's hilarious that (Hillary Clinton's) is not even attending her own group,"

Even though she is headed to the Kos gathering, the blog world, as Garifoli points out, is tough terrain for Hillary. "Most liberal bloggers detest Clinton for her 2002 vote authorizing President Bush to pursue military action in Iraq. In Daily Kos' monthly presidential straw polls, "No Freaking Clue" frequently has drawn more votes than Clinton," writes Garofoli. Nevertheless, Hillary is trying to earn some points with the bloggers and sent her spokesperson to defend the Chicago Yearly Kos gathering (which is independent of the Daily Kos blog) when Jet Blue had some second thoughts about being a corporate sponsor, after Fox New's right wing demagogue attacked them viciously for having the temerity to support the blog gathering, for, as the Jet Blue spokesperson explained, " wanting to have our logo in front of 1400 influential people. "

Humiliation a media trend?

Selling humiliation is an industry... Reality shows designed to hurt people, FOX news crapping on most of America as haters and terrorist losers, American Idol is about Simon crapping on people not finding talent, films where characters get ahead by humiliating someone else (Knocked Up has a woman knocked up by a guy who is garbage and she... is ok with it?).

America's media is a sick, sick, culture. Notice I didn't even mention the torture porn, of which, coincidentally (perhaps), Linday Lohan's new movie features.

It's a trend.

Kos is about electing Democrats

Kos is first and foremost about electing Democrats, not about taking back the Democratic Party. The primary challenges that the Kossacks support against DLC types are in safely blue districts. They go for "electability" everywhere else, which means electing more DLC and Blue Dogs that end up offsetting whatever gains progressives make.

The Queen Bee doesn't need to visit the DLC. She is running on their agenda anyway. She needs all of the worker bees that Kos will provide once she gets the Democratic nomination.

Everyone knows they're going to promote/follow/adhere to DLC demands anyway. Clinton especially. Why blow her cover in such an obvious way? By going to Yearly KOS they can all pretend they're - what did Clinton call herself? - "progressive".

Yes afraid of the radical extremists of the far-left. What is typically called the "kook fringe". These candidates have to pander to these extremists who have hi-jacked the Democratic Party. What a shame.

Once you go past Kucinich, Gravel, and Richardson, you're "off the edge." The DLC sucks! And I have my doubts about Richardson.
