The Most Racist Comments About Mexicans Ever Allowed On-Air

I am not quick to call something racist. In fact, I wrote an editorial pleading with everyone not to call the NY Post chimp cartoon racist. I went on MSNBC and defended that position. I’m afraid calling someone racist often times shuts off dialogue and should be reserved for only the clearest and worst cases. I also defended Don Imus and insisted he should not be fired for his comments.

So, I have some credibility here when I say conservative talk show host Jay Severin should absolutely be fired for his racist comments against Mexicans on the radio. I hesitate in writing about this because Severin is a pathetic nobody who might be looking for national attention by making these kinds of incredibly ignorant comments. But, on the other hand, there have to be consequences for this kind of deeply hateful speech. And if people don’t argue forcefully enough against it, there won’t be enough pressure on the station to get rid of this hateful racist.

So, what did he say that’s got me so worked up?

As you heard in the video above, Severin has been suspended by WTKK-FM in Boston. But that is not nearly enough. If you don’t get fired for this, what do you get fired for?

Here are just some of his prize quotes from the show:

“So now, in addition to venereal disease and the other leading exports of Mexico - women with mustaches and VD - now we have swine flu.”

He described Mexicans as “the world’s lowest of primitives.”

“When we are the magnet for primitives around the world - and it’s not the primitives’ fault by the way, I’m not blaming them for being primitives - I’m merely observing they’re primitive.”

“It’s millions of leeches from a primitive country come here to leech off you and, with it, they are ruining the schools, the hospitals, and a lot of life in America.”

“We should be, if anything, surprised that Mexico has not visited upon us poxes of more various and serious types already, considering the number of criminaliens already here.”

He also said that emergency rooms had “become essentially condos for Mexicans.”

And on a 2004 broadcast, he compared Muslims to a fifth column in this country and said in response to a caller who thought people should reach out to Muslims: “You think we should befriend them; I think we should kill them.”

But unfortunately calling for the murder of Muslim-Americans has become so commonplace and acceptable these days that he didn’t even come close to getting fired for those comments. So, I guess he figured he had free reign to attack the other half of M&Ms.

Or maybe he’s just desperate because his ratings have dropped to 14th in the market in the demos. By the way, if you weren’t outraged enough already. You want to know how much he makes for spewing this kind of hate and being the fourteenth best radio show in his timeslot? One million dollars, plus bonuses!

I believe a person has to do a lot to cross the line into a firing offense. Talk show hosts have an interesting but tough job. You usually have to talk for three hours a day, often unscripted. You have to entertain your audience and push the boundaries to spark interesting conversations. That is part of the reason why I give talk hosts huge leeway and why I defended Imus. But there has to be a line somewhere. And this is clearly it. Jay Severin should be fired immediately.

Young Turks on You Tube

UPDATE: Here’s how you can contact the station in Boston who hired Severin (even though he lied about winning a Pulitzer Prize and having a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Boston University; and he had already said the comments on killing Muslims in 2004). Write them an e-mail or call them here. Remember, they have suspended him for now, which means they are trying to decide whether they should fire him or keep him. What do you think they should do? Let them know.

Digg!

you get to say what you want, and the guy you despise gets to say what he wants.I believe Severin
should be reinstated if we truly believe in free
speech. People who want to believe in his rantings
will do so whether he's on the air or not. Free
speech is a messy business and not always pretty, but a cornerstone of a free society. We have
allowed erosion of our rights in the name of national security. To force him off the air is an
erosion of our right of free speech. if you want debate him in an independent format.I would match
someone like Charles Neeson to debate him.

The white man shows his true colors yet again! On the subject of hygiene, since it was brought up, I have to say that white Americans, who mouth kiss dogs, live with all manner of flea ridden animals, animals with shit smeared behinds and filth smeared paws who have free reign in their homes, who despite all of their wealth and resources suffer all manner of poison risks, just from eating, never mind any innately risky behavior, and a long history of genocide by disease should probably not boost of superior hygiene with any seriousness. Venereal disease, to boot is suffered at the most astounding rates in the west beginning at the youngest ages, despite a staggering amount of available resources. It was whites who likely spread AIDS all across the globe, remember. In my “primitive” homeland we never saw fit to live with animals let alone allow them and their shit smeared asses on our beds where we lie to sleep or mouth kiss dogs as poor destitute and “primitive” as we were, as these hygenically superior Americans do.

NAFTA and agribusiness set conditions for flu

Ironically, Severin is trying to blame Mexicans for a disease that developed under conditions set by NAFTA and US agribusiness, driving small farmers out of business all over. I'm not sure if the evidence is in on whether this developed at a factory farm in Mexico, but it seems likely that the blame for this, if any, should go to US politicians and business setting conditions in Mexico that are conducive to spreading disease.

That doesn't fit very conveniently in Severin's racist narrative.

I oppose illegal immigration. I resent those who call those of us who want immigration law upheld racist. It is not racist to advocate what we think are reasonable levels of immigration.

So I join the author, who is reluctant to play the race card, in stating that this fool from Boston should not be on the radio. He hates all Mexicans, and his target is not illegal aliens, Mexican or not. I don't care whether the uber liberals believe I respect Mexicans and their culture or not. Immigration should be carefully considered in terms of economic needs and population growth, whether we are worried about Mexican or Russian immigration. I'm against both at this time of recession, and I certainly don't want illegals of any ethnicity to get a "path" to citizenship jsut because they've evaded deportation successfully. But calling people sickening names as Severin did calls for his bankruptcy. We shouldn't prosecute him for his speech. But even better, we should ensure this sick bastard is POOR, POOR, POOR.

He'll wish he were dead.

Is it not too much to remember a little more then 100 years ago, The Irish were thought of the same way?
The Potato Famine brought over millions of poor, dirty and I would guess some diseases. Poor people fleeing horrendous conditions.
We are a nation of immigrants. Every single one of us, except Native Americans have a family "history" of immigration.

The hypocrites of the the conservative, religious right, while trying to impose their religious convictions on the rest of us, have no compassion for those who are different them themselves. They truly do not understand or willfully ignore "Do unto others....".

I am sick of punks like him using their media platform to incite people against one ethnic group, in this case Mexicans.

racism--calling for murder is NOT FREE speech. Wake the F-up! Stop defending lies and toruture and hate-thought.

We cant go into a theater and yell fire, if there's no fire. You donot have that freedom. You can not incite hared and murder. And you should not be able to support it by giving these people a voice.

All these so-called 'experts' these mainstream media henchmen should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity, and treason.

You have the right to say my thinking is wrong-that's free speech. I have the right to call for you prosecution, and even tell peopl you are a moron and a danger to our society, but i cannot call for your murder, and cant ge ton public airwaves--these are supposed to be our airwaves--and incite hatred. You cannot. You do not have that freedom. Shut up!

I am refering to bloggers who say freedom is a double edged sword and that hate-mongers and fear-mongers and torture mongers have free speech. No they do not.

They are yelling Fire! in a public theater. And so did Bush and Cheny and Rice an all those media clowns--terror alert terror alert--they yelling fire in a crowded theter when ther is no fire, there is no threat--only from them.

Its a bit like somebody running into a theater with a can of gasoline or a bomb and yelling fire before they themselves blow it up! these are terrorists. tehy incite terror. The mainstream, kooky corporate owned media are terrorists. Prosecute theBUsh crime family--all the way up to the old man and dumb ass barbara

Jay Severin uses the word primitive. I use the words 3rd world country Illegal Aliens. It doesn't matter which words you use. The problem is still the same.

Jay Severin states it is not the fault of the ILLEGAL ALIENS for sneaking into the USA bringing pestilence disease, crime, and sucking free benefits from the USA paid for by the TAX PAYERS.

It is greed by the rich, corporations and a spineless government.

We have immigration laws that work but a gutless government that obeys the greedy rich and corporations and will not enforce the law.

Just wait until the government and the Greedy Rich jam the NORTH AMERICAN UNION DOWN OUR THROATS.

With OPEN BORDERS and a government run Exclusive by Corporations and the Rich. American citizens will be classified as "PRIMATIVES" in ten years time.

Stop them now or perish.

Fine, then fire the Alternet author Cenk Uygur first.

The author of this article suggests that someone be fired for expressing an opinion they have. Since advocating against free speech is far worse than racist name-calling, we need to start with firing the author of this piece first, as the article is anti-free-speech. Only then should we move on to the less serious racist name-calling offenses.

In fact though people should not be fired for expressing their honest opinions regardless of how much we disapprove of them. I have a right to hate people and express that hate... I live in a free country! If I were racist I should have every right to hate and express hate so long as I never crossed any criminal boundaries. Its called the right to free expression, and if you force someone to not express their racism then you are forcing your morals on them.

...so it is disappointing to see so many call for the firing of someone who expressed his views. That is not against the law. If you want the right to express your opinion, you must allow others the same right.

Some of what he said was obviously over the top, but he is entitled by the First Amendment to say it. Some of it is true and I agree with his leeches comment. It is true - many illegal immigrants ARE leeches sucking resources from a system they never paid into. Many citizens are struggling to make ends meet yet must pay taxes which support the leeches. This is grossly unfair and there is nothing wrong with recognizing what is going on and saying so.

As blatantly anti-Latino as Jay Severin's comments about Mexicans are, they pale in comparison to those of Michael Savage. And whereas Severin is on only one station -- WTKK in Boston -- Savage is on over 300 stations across the country. So why are the Young Turks going after Severin and not Savage? Savage, in my opinion, is far more incendiary.

It is NOT a violation of free-speech to fire the racist mass-murder-inciter.
It would be a violation of free-speech, however, if the government put him in prison or fined him for what he said.
(As others have pointed out, this punishment goes instead to those who accidently expose breasts on live TV.)

Remember the Rwanda genocide? That violence was incited by hate-radio. This is potentially dangerous stuff being said.

I don't think he should be put in jail, however, even though he probably broke some serious laws by putting people in danger.

But what should happen is that his program's sponsors should be boycotted. I would like a list of such sponsors. I bet they are REALLY proud of their affiliation.

40 YEARS OF VOTING WRONG
Posted by: reelman on May 5, 2009 5:05 PM
Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
AFTER 40 YEARS OF VOTING DEMOCRAT

Mr. Jared Taylor, the author of the book, “The Color of Crime,” lists the following as some of his major findings about crime committed by non-Whites:
• Police and the justice system are not biased against minorities.

Crime Rates
• Blacks are seven times more likely than people of other races to commit murder, and eight times more likely to commit robbery.

• When blacks commit crimes of violence, they are nearly three times more likely than non-blacks to use a gun, and more than twice as likely to use a knife.

• Hispanics commit violent crimes at roughly three times the white rate, and Asians commit violent crimes at about one quarter the white rate.

• The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of the population that is black and Hispanic.

Interracial Crime
• Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving blacks and whites, blacks commit 85% and whites commit 15 percent.

• Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against blacks. 45% of their victims are white, 43 percent are black, and 10 percent are Hispanic. When whites commit violent crime, only 3 percent of their victims are black.

• Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against a white than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery.

• Blacks are 2.25 times more likely to commit officially-designated hate crimes against whites than vice versa.

In order to inform yourself about Black crime in America, please go to: http://www.amren.com/store/colorcrime.htm

Mr. Taylor’s book is available online for $8.95:

CRAWFISH NOTE: Democrats destroyed the black family for their vote, dumbed down American morality while they potrayed fornication, profanity, porn and divorce as of little significance. Democrats continue pushing homosexual marriage and the overt trashing of people of faith. Now democrats are giving hispanics a pass to illegally enter America and they have become thousands of new felons.
Then democrats still have the gall to blame others for culture rot and demand billions instead of character-morality. That is why the modern liberal is a secular socialist. Facts are facts. Ignore what they say, watch what they do.
