Money Bags Alert: McCain Unsure of How Many Houses He Owns

Posted by Steve Benen, The Carpetbagger Report at 9:34 AM on August 21, 2008.

"I think -- I'll have my staff get to you. It's condominiums where -- I'll have them get to you." -McCain

Throughout the campaign, there have been various trivialities that have taken on enormous political significance. Nearly everyone can no doubt rattle more than a few examples off the top of their heads -- haircuts, arugula, bowling scores, lapel pins, etc.

But I have a hunch not one of these is as humiliating as this one.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview Wednesday that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own.

"I think -- I’ll have my staff get to you," McCain told us in Las Cruces, N.M. 'It’s condominiums where -- I’ll have them get to you.'

It’s one thing to be so extraordinarily wealthy that you own multiple homes. It’s another to be so extraordinarily wealthy that you can’t even remember how many homes you own.

There’s been at least a half-hearted effort on the part of Democrats lately to characterize McCain as out of touch with the concerns of regular ol’ working American families. There’s been a more subtle effort to paint McCain as old and befuddled.

By struggling to count his own number of homes, McCain has done Democrats an enormous favor. I’ve seen some equate McCain with Grandpa Simpson, and I’ve seen some equate McCain with Mr. Burns. It turns out, he’s both.

Time’s Mark Halperin reported this morning that Dems are planning a “major offensive” on this, and intend to “hammer the Arizonan” over his comments. I can’t say I blame them. This is a slow, hanging curve, right over the middle of the plate.

Digg!

We should contrast this with his amazing show of utter disregard for the plight of those losing their homes by saying that they should stop taking vacations and work two jobs . The woman who was losing her home WAS working two jobs and STILL was unable to pay her mortgage which was over 15%

This is simply another example of the fact that McCain is a senile old fool who doesn't remember anything, can't get anything straight and doesn't know his a** from a hole in the ground.

Dear Senator McCain:

Just to save you embarrasment, you have at
last 10 different addresses. I'm sure Cindy could have told you that.

But then, it has been one very awful awful long campaign and one does get tired.

Four years is also a long time, just as a hundred years war is a long time.

But that out extends your time and won't matter that much to you.

So don't give it a second thought.

Grampy McSame is truly an embarrassment to us all. Can't you just see our standing in the world rise above the heavens with him as President. This cannot be allowed to happen because his VP (most likely Liebernman) will outlive him and then we are in serious, serious trouble.

I once worked for someone with six homes, including one in Hawaii. When the business slowed down due to his incompetence, did he sell any homes? Nope! I ended up getting laid off. This guy was a big Republican sociopath, just like many of our current Congresspersons.

be the next president of the United States. The right wing think tanks, each sporting hundreds of millions in annual budget money, hire the inventors of the lies and spin for the right wing media to spout. In order to keep their salaries flowing they keep spouting it. Eventually, their lying takes form and gets accepted by their listeners as truth.

These people are hired right along with maids, butlers, and housekeepers as part of their necessary staffing. If they didn't hire these guys they might not stay rich and/or get richer.
